i was merging onto the interstate lastnight, and mid-acceleration I noticed my exhaust tone get noticeably quieter (more quiet?). Not that it's crazy loud in the first place, but there's a definite difference. No noticeable difference in performance. Any reason to be worried about this? Is it possible for something inside the muffler to have come loose? Preciate any info/help

2012 F150, 5.0 (supercharged, long tube headers, 3" magnaflow exhaust). Already called magnaflow to see if this is a known issue at any point, and he said he has never heard of anything like this. Exhaust is 3 years old.

I'm inclined to feel the same BP, however I commute 45 min to work so I was just wondering if anyone had ever encountered this before (would suck to break down on the interstate). It's hard to bring it to the shop with my work schedule, but if I have to I'll do so and rent a car.

Maybe go get your ears checked first, might be cheaper than going to a shop and telling them to check out the truck.

Sounds like maybe you just got caught in an awkward gear to where you were bogged down a little bit.

Yes.

The catalytic converter could be failing. Watch for a loss of power or CEL.

That's what I was thinking. Sometimes when I shift into 3rd going up a hill it will drag a little bit. RPM's just aren't there just yet. But it is either screaming in 2nd or playing catch up in 3rd.

Could be, Fish.

I got with an old gal from Ozona one time and it was pretty awkward when her Momma and Daddy showed up. My acceleratin' was pretty good getting down the road, though.

It has high flow cats that came on the headers from the manufacturer. Haven't noticed any warning lights in the dash, but I'll keep an eye out. My exhaust is a turn down right before the rear axle, so I had some cabin drone. But since this happened, it's almost like I'm driving with stock exhaust again (which is actually a blessing, hated the drone). A problem with the cats makes sense though, I just always thought that made things louder. Who knows Thanks for the brainstorming fellas.
