Looking to buy a new over/under shotgun. Any thoughts? Don't really want to spend more than $1500. TIA

I don't remember what a silver pigeon cost but it is a hell of a gun for around that money.

Have you held any guns to see how they feel? Start there, see what brands feel well to you, make sure you keep track of the barrel lengths and gauges as you try guns.

I would check out local classifieds, Facebook groups and shooting ranges. I bought one used for a great price. Looks like they always have really good deals on O/Us. Guess there isn't that much of a demand for them.

I have a Beretta Black Onyx fwiw. It's a beautiful gun, but I shoot my SBEII better.

Don't put such a hard limit on $1500.

Browning reduced the price of their Cynergy's to ~$1500.

The Browning 725 field model can be had for ~$1800 and it is a heck of a deal at that price point.

Beretta 686's are about the same.

If $1500 is the absolute top of your price, look at the winchester 101. They're not terrible.

Over/unders are made to last generations. Used guns should also be on the radar...

Hijack - What's the OT opinion on the new Ruger Red Labels?
Is Ruger still making them?

No.

From Ruger:

quote:

"The (new) Red Label has been removed from the web site and will not be present in the 2015 catalog. Our plan is to ramp down the production of the O/U in the first third of the year. Our current backlog is larger than our capacity, so we removed it from the marketing material. We are releasing about 250 20 gauge models this week, but have no plans to make more. While we are all pretty upset having to cease production (again), the numbers don't lie. The current design is just not able to be manufactured for the retail price we need to hit."

Also, Hunters Run in Port Allen usually keeps a few Range Guns. Right now they only have one O/U. You can rent it for $20/day

Classifieds from the gun club. I can get contact info if you're interested.

FANATIC Whatever you do not get one with a big fat chocolate recoil pad on it please thanks

Also that YIDZI that hunter run selling may do you fine if you can tolerate a knockoff the YILDIZ which can be debated as a knockoff of other over/under

I have a citori I love BUT I know this to be a fact---buy a gun that fits you. It makes a HUGE difference.
