Awesome trip.

I've been trying to plan almost the same exact scenario for years, but I have soft arse friends who won't commit.

Q: Could he have waited on the bull, or was the cow about to blow ya'll out?

Well, I guess you could say that. Direct correlation between missing that first one was him not taking care of his rig before we went out there, which he will never forgive himself for. I texted him the wks leading up making sure he was right and he never got around to shooting those broadheads, despite the fact that we shot ALOT leading up to this. His mistake and he owns it.

Then missed!

It was a tough shot and he's 4" taller than me so my draw length was awkward for him, plus I think he panicked and released too soon. Im very confident I would have made that shot. But, he got the job done anyway and we still had a great time. He's typically a fantastic shot. Now, if he would have missed that cow, I would have ragged him for quite some time.

In hindsight, he could have waited. I think I would have. We needed 30 more seconds and bull was back in range. She was quickly pegging our position as she was only 30 yards, but she was focused on me and the calling, not him. I cant blame him for taking the sure shot though, and I'll take the success. Now we know how to hunt them for next year.

Only one option, PIIHB

It happens to everyone. We knew we would have to adapt and overcome. Just didnt think it would be self inflicted. Hope anyone can learn from others mistakes.

i would be very interested in your gear list. Especially what packs and pads you used. I weighed three cows from there last year that we were able to get into the truck whole but gutted, whole gutted all were w/in 5# of 330.

Dude, it looks like you're ready for the apocalypse instead of a hunt.

I posted the gear list on the first page. Our way of weighing wasnt very scientific. We drained the ice and water when we got back home and weighed it before adding more ice. Then weighed another identical ice chest and the difference was 289 lbs.

Dang dude. Talk about bucket listing it right there.

If I could post that black and white gif of people clapping in the theater I would.

I enjoyed reading that.

Awesome story and adventure.

Neither of you will ever forget it.
And, the busted bow only adds to the story. Wouldn't be nearly as memorable/entertaining if he shot the bull right off the bat.

Congrats. I'm jelly.
