Slidell, La: couldn't hunt Saturday morning do to previous commitment. Saturday night headed to camp on lake Catherine. Watched the lsu game and caught trout under the lights. Lake is loaded with shrimp and nice sized trout. This morning only killed 1 teal and had a flock of greys come in 10 minutes before LST. Really was a slow morning. Every duck within eyesight went straight to one pond and they shot their limit. Makes you question their "tactics" to say the least. Hopefully this cold weather coming bumps the numbers.

4 teal in Dulac Saturday morning. Blind next to us shot a bunch
Had work today. Got in an argument with some duck commander claiming I was on his lease. "What are you doing man?" "Hunting, what the frick does it look like I'm doing"

Eta: pretty much everyone I talked to from Pecan to Venice limited out. Greys and teal mostly across the board

So someone scouted for a good pond and out shot youu, so you accuse them of feeding.

It's hard to hide corn in the marsh with the flyovers nowadays. It shines and shimmers underwater like gold from a distance if the water is even remotely clear. Maybe they plant something? Or maybe the ducks just like that hole? I've seen it before where ducks repeatedly piled into one spot while ignoring seemingly identical habitat right next to it.

Heard it leaves an oil slick on the water almost as obvious as the golden nugget

Did well in Venice both days. Took a little bit longer today but good hunts. Today is couldn't hit water falling out of a boat.

Killed 18 Sat and Sun Cameron parish. Very surprised. All teal and a few grays. But reports from other blinds in the area is not very encouraging.

Wouldn't say good, but wasn't horrible for us. Shot into 2 groups of teal and called it a morning and went hit up some trout.

Hit 5 out the first flock and only 2 out of the 2nd... 2nd group got in too close, hard to complain about that

Killed a few birds in canaveron too... birds were acting kind of end of the seasonish. I will say this... all the fricking yahoos with mud motors going out at 4-5 on Friday/Saturday afternoon to "ride" doesn't help the situation.

For the record not saying all with mud motors are yahoos.... but when you take a left out the Reggio canal and head into the marsh to joy ride at 5 in the afternoon you are a damn idiot and potentionally ruining the birds for the morning.

I hunted lower end of Gods country, Terrebonne parish. Limited both days almost all greys. Lots of huge flocks of gw Sat am, only saw 5 teal yesterday. Big flocks birds headed offshore sat also. Yesterday big flights of pintails headed east. I figured the flatbills in their Gatortails finally pushed them off the Atch delta.

changing hydrology in all of st. bernard parish is changing the marsh.

during the transition some areas will have a couple of down years.

thankfully our st bernard spot is back to normal.

son and his buds did good both days.

people that bait screw everyone around them, it's plain and simple - if they know what they are doing. turn them in and don't wait, the longer you wait the more ducks will get imprinted to go there and feed.

use the wlf tip app or call the usfws office in slidell.

many many agents prowling that area as it is.

Went to the lease yesterday to finish brushing some blinds and maybe saw five ducks on the lease and hardly any flying around on the boat ride out there. Continental land a little north of lake Penchant. Ponds looked great though...
