My initial thoughts when I see someone open carrying are always them being law enforcement. Just think how it would have turned out if that guy was actually a cop

1 - I agree with your comments that is why I don't open carry here ever. NOPD has too many a-holes.
2 - Frick Whole Foods if they won't support the 2nd; besides, I get enough organic food from trout and venison to make up for my lack of organic veggies.
3 - I like Rouses better anyway.

I would like to know the stats on how many illigal acts with a weapon, ie. armed robbery, are committed by people open carrying. I would venture to guess it is almost non existant and therefore the behavior of this cop was uncalled for. Laugh at the fact he said I did not want to let you get the drop on me.

The thing I hated the most was that the guy was a regular and the woman still called the fuzz. And she had the nerve to ask him about his dog after.

Also, if someone is OCing a 1911, chances are he isn't a threat. 1911 peoples have moneyzzz.

I guess I agree, because I don't have either one.

Can anyone explain the "Mason" references in the posts? In the post they also reference the LOE's questions of "Are you a traveler?" and tie that into the mason reference.

ETA, why would it have mattered to the officer?

TIA

I live nextdoor to that Whole Foods but shop at Rouses. I'm trying to join that forum to thank the guy who posted the video. Very frustrating to watch.

the cop knew he was not a cop or he would not have tackled them he took advantage of the situation to slam someone for carrying in his store If law dictates that private property owner decide who can carry and who cannot, then how are you supposed to know with out a sign? And this cop just assaulted someone in upholding the laws of Whole Foods. LOL Can you say civil suit LOL

He had several offers for legal counsel in the thread. He took one of them. And IIRC NOPD and BRPD are fully aware of this incident and have discussed it internally

This matters big time. If the fellow would have answered with a no the outcome may have been different.

Whole Foods in Baton Rouge has a No Firearms Allowed sign at the entrance. I wonder if the one in NO has the same.

But all things considered, why do people open carry? Just draws unnecessary attention to yourself.

I only open carry when I am working and in a sketchy neighborhood and have to inspect a vacant property. Sometimes there are gentlemen of aftrican american descent conversing in the streets and it makes me a little uneasy.

I'll keep my eye out for that S&W Airweight.
