My neighbor had his there for while for the same reason. Think his was the track bar and a bent tie rod.

More then 75% of the time it is this if everything else is still tight.

Rough Country sells an adjustable for under $150 shipped. Searchers wanted to charge me more then $300 for one. Change it out myself and then took it in for a alignment/balance of the tires too!

Steering stabilizers do not fix anything. While they may make the wobble softer, the root problem still exists. I ran my TJ for years without a SS.

Guess it is still spoken for.

The SS isn't necessary, but it makes driving much better at highway speeds in Louisiana. A lot of people run without them, a lot of people run without swaybar links as well.

Yeah, 4WHLN can attest that I have done a ton of work tracking it down and trying every solution. The root cause was the ball joints which I changed and it made it drivable. Right now the most logical thing is the tierod. I want to upgrade to the bombproof, but running 15's so it won't fit. New rims and tires by the end of the month I hope so it will fit.

Luckily I don't have to drive it everyday.

First you have to separate them off the knuckle with a pickle fork which sucks arse.

I did my tie-rod and ball joint replacement myself, and fully agree with you on the PITA comment. Thank God it was a Jeep so I had a lot of clearance and room to manuever around.

The pickle fork is great.

I'll get the pics in a few...

Two different trackbars, always torqued past 130lbs, 150# right now
New draglink
All 4 ball joints
Everything loosened at ride height and retourqed.
Welded washers on both sides of the trackbar mounts.
Swapped between tierods, both factory though.

Numerous wheel balances and alignments. Running 35" on 15"

Once this rain passes I'm gonna get up under there and at least tighten the tie rod ends for a temporary fix until I get it to the shop.

Are your bolts the correct size? some models have a size a hair too small

are all of your bolt holes, still in circles and not ovaled?

Axle straight? C's bent?

When you changed tie rods, did you change the ends as well?

What size tire do run and on what axle?

9/16ths on the trackbar (running a JKS right now). Control arms are all upgraded to Rock Krawlers and they are fit for factory, upgrading to 9/16th requires drilling out the control arm bushings.

Axles straight, C's less than a degree off.

Different TRE's for the different tie rods. Both factory though, not upgrade. Same with the drag link.

BFG A/T 35x12.50x15 tire, 15" rim. Running on D44's front and rear.
