So now that I've successfully got my wife into shooting, she is insisting on having her own gun. She wants a 12g in a 28" barrel.

On my list of reasonable priced guns:

Beretta A300, franchi affinity, and steoger, with the franchi "feeling the best"

Any OBers have these guns? How do they do at the skeet range with 2.75in target loads?

I don't own any of those but I would definitely advise sticking with an autoloader to keep felt recoil down.

i've bought 2 franchi affinities for mack jr #1: 20 ga and 12 ga. he shoots competitively and has put A LOT of shells through the 20 ga w/o any problems.

Thanks for the replies I was hoping she would like the Beretta 300 bec gas system kicked less, but after shouldering them all the franchi "felt the best" to her

Hows the Franchis kick in a 12?

franchi affinity

I bought mine the 20ga Affinity Compact. It's an awesome little gun. I wouldn't recommend teaching someone to shoot with an auto though.

The gf was pretty beat after shooting a round of clays out of my SBE. I'll be buying her a 20ga.

Just a thought.

My 10yr old got a Franchi Affinity Compact from Santa this past year.

I had to put on a slip-on limbsaver recoil pad on the gun as the standard pad kicked him pretty good. Once he got that he was good to go and has since learned to keep the gun tight to his shoulder.

It's been a great little gun so far. He's probably put around a half a case through it.

My stoeger does pretty good at the target range. I can't speak for the rest. I shot a 14 and a 15 last weekend out of the 7 rounds we shot.

Go with what fits. I've hated 2 guns in my life, 1 was a browning bps that just didn't fit right. I couldn't hit with it so I didn't enjoy hunting as much until 1/2 way through season I decided to sell it. Hunting was a lot more fun when you hit what you shoot at.
