There is an SAS'd tacoma in Baton Rouge. Late model too, I think it's a 2005 ish. Ford 9 inch and D44 w/ RCV's. It's beefy.

V6 and a high pinion Dana 30 would be plenty for a SAS tacoma.

. Not sure what you are trying to do with it but I recommend a two door JK if it's something you're trying to drive.

there is a lot more comfort in a JK vs TJ and its better on the drive-ability. I'd say almost night and day IMO. TJ's are going to be slightly easier to work on in the drivetrain side

It might be fine for that, but you are going to have to be able to tinker with it or else you should just buy a two door JK. The first time it strands your wife at work with a dead CPS it will become a thorn in your arse. The iron duke is near bullet proof but there really is no getting around wrenching on all the other junk.

I'll never be able to convince her. Her dad has had a "Toy TJ" for over a year now with not a single problem.

Oh, and there is a lower priced JK on craigslist, but the ad is poorly done, and we had to request pics that are not super clear. Over an hour away. I burned all afternoon tuesday only to have someone buy the jeep she wanted as we waited in the dealership.

Mine is a daily driver. 2004 that I bought over 4 years ago with 32k miles on it. Not one issue in 4 years. I've basically changed the oil, bought new tires, put a battery in it, and replaced brake pads in that timeframe. I6 with the 5 speed manual. The only other money I've spent on it was some customization. I put a Tuffy console in it, replaced the CD player and added XM, replaced speakers, bought a different softtop for it, etc. All just cosmetics or features I wanted in it that it lacked. As long as it looks clean, runs well, and hasn't been abused, they make excellent daily drivers for short commutes. Now a long highway trip is another thing. If I could convince my wife to get one of our mothers to watch the kids for several days I'd love to take it down to the beach, but I don't think 4 hours on the Alabama interstates would be good for her, so we'd end up taking the van.

That's great and all, but it is not the norm. If you're putting 10k a year on it, you're creeping up on the time where they start needing work. I've owned lots of these things and what you are describing is the Jeep equivalent of the little old lady with the Cadillac she only drove to church on Sundays. Once that jeep starts creeping up around 100k miles you're going to have to start replacing shite. This is true for all old cars and all high milage cars. It just so happens all jeep TJ's are older cars. Ergo, there is a good chance that most are going to need lots of upkeep.

Yeah, at the rate I drive it will be another 5 years before I approach 100k. It was paid for in cash and in 2 more years my wife's vehicle will be paid off. A lot easier to deal with some repairs here and there without a car note. That's what's great about owning an older car that is for the most part reliable. Don't abuse it and they last a while. The wife's is a Toyota, so I expect we'll be driving both of them for a while. I'm the type to keep a vehicle 7-8 years anyway. I don't mind working on them myself.

Beware of the 3.8L JK's. They will magically start losing a ton of oil.
We had a mostly stock Rubicon JK on 37's at Moab and there wasn't anything we couldn't go through. Way more comfortable and day to day usable then the two doors.
There were quite a bit of mods on the TJ on 37's but we were able to go up and down Hell's Gate in it without much problems. The 4.0l has been extremely reliable.

Black 07 Sahara acquired. Has the Infinity system, so I may not change anything. Kinda bummed about that.
