Well, I made a rookie mistake. I ordered my barrel with the flash hider already pinned, not thinking about it. It came in, I attached it to my upper, put the gas rod in and boom... Can't put the gas block on bc of the FH being pinned already. Now I have to ordered another gas block that can be opened up so I can slide it on the barrel. Sucks bc I thought I was going to have it all put together with the exception of the stock but such is life.

Here's what she looks like at the moment:

What are some standard external upgrades that Yall recommend? I was figuring at minimum new stock, grips, forward grip, some type of hand guard/quad rail, and sights (both rear flip and mounted sights). Not trying to break the bank but I also want something that's gonna last and be worth a damn. Any tips on quality products is appreciated

Magpul MOE stuff is pretty good. Should be able to find some deals on it pretty soon. Pretty much all of the major brand BUIS are good so it's a matter of personal choice. As far as optics, if you are keeping the stock FSP I'm not sure. I swapped on a Yankee Hill front sight when I mounted an ACOG on my 20" rifle.

My personal favorite as far as grips go is Ergo, but you would of course have to handle various brands to see what suits you. Several great stock options out there at a wide range of prices, but I'm a fan of the LMT (or B5) SOPMOD. And another thing that has become "must have" for me is a BAD lever.

Have an Ergo on my 16" rifle, good grip but doesn't fit at tightly to the rifle as it could and you might have to put a little contact cement on the well plug.

If anyone was looking to build a 300 blackout. Brownells has the AAC 16" barrel on sale for $149. I was going to get one, but I think Im going to ditch my 14.5" Sabre barrel and get something different in 223/556 instead.

Brownells

So I scratched my barrel. It is not aluminum. What can I do to touch it up? Doesn't need to be perfect as it will be under the handguard but it will still be slightly visible.

Like I got some vise grips and put some leather between and it didn't do much and the parkerized part became no more. Lol

Just got a mini 14. Funny how less "scary" this gun is yet its the same as an AR. . Pretty cool little gun. My dad told me months ago he had a friend selling and I told him I wanted one but I forgot so I was a little surprised I got it for Christmas.

Yeah I saw that they all recommended the same thing I would have.

You can try black nail polish as well.
