Novice Dove Hunting Shot Placement Help Needed

Went yesterday afternoon. I had only one good group: 2 birds down, and one winged unrecoverable

I managed 12 birds found. I winged too many to count on my 2 and 3 shot.

Am I missing behind or in front?
