Does anyone know anything about the new place Nolatac in Avondale? It's a shooting range at the Nola Motorsports Park. They supposedly have several shooting stations, steel targets, and a 1300 yard rifle range. It sounds really nice, but there isn't a whole lot of photos of the actual place that I could find.

The owner is in at least 3 of the pictures.

$1000/yr really isn't that bad considering the next nearest 1000+ yard range is like 4 hours away. Let alone the other ranges they have.

Its brand new and they just opened so there arent a whole bunch of pictures floating around. The owner Brannon is a good dude. He is one of the ones that brought a bunch of the training pros down here before the likes of VATA and Advantage group, like back when Magpul was an actual training group and not a crappy plastic molding company.

I haven't reached out to him, but the membership deal kind of confuses me. It seems there are classes every other weekend and the pretty much shuts the range down. I haven't asked, but maybe it doesn't. If someone else has reached out please share.

$1,000 is pretty expensive considering the other ranges in the area and what they offer. Palo Alto has a 600 yard range and only charges $225/yr. MCTA is $300.00 with a 200 yard range and 24/7 range access.

I suppose he is trying to keep the undesirables out by having a high price point. I would have to know if the facility is everything it says it is and the range availability before I'm going to pay a grand for a place to shoot.

His guest fees are a little steep as well.

Well you have to have a partner to shoot the 600 yard line.

Also, there is no steel to shoot at Palo alto. Only paper targets.

200 yards is about 1100 yards short of 1300. MCTA is very promising if they can extend that range.

I definitely can agree that there are some things that are weird or make you wonder why, hopefully there are some changes.

But the fact we have a 1300 yard range now in south Louisiana is a great thing. And I am sure that some of the rules are to keep people from launching 50 cals and 338 lapuas into whatever is behind it.

the club that I belong to here in Memphis has 100, 200, 300, 400, and 600.

to shoot anything longer than the 100yds range you must qualify. I haven't done it yet but will before too long.

I'm wanting to stretch my AR-10 out a little. I can cover 5 shots with a quarter at 100yds. Want to see what it will do at 200 and 300.

I'm not a member, but was talking to someone about that place a few days ago and they said now you can use a camera in the pit instead of a friend and you can shoot steel. I'm guessing the shooter has to supply the steel, but maybe not.

That would be awesome, Caldwell has a pretty cheap camera system that I'm sure they copied off of someone else.

Turn on your sarcasm meter for below.

Also, it seems not a single person has hit the 1000 yard steel at nolatac. You'd think with everyone thats hit that far someone would have hit already.

I suggested still bringing a friend and just put one of y'alls phone in the pit and facetime or Skype it. Would save you $300 on the camera system.

Hello all, my name is Brannon LeBouef, and I am the owner / director of the NOLATAC Training Center in Avondale. I will attempt to address the questions and concerns posed here, but please feel free to contact me directly about any questions. So far things are progressing very nicely at NTC, and we have a really awesome and knowledgeable group of members so far. We have several high end classes scheduled throughout the next 18 months from national instructors as well as our own staff and other local training companies.

We are in the process of planning a joint machinegun shoot and gun show at the facility as well as some suppressor shoots. We have an IDPA group that started because of the range and their first match is the last Sunday of the month starting in August. We have a separate group trying to do some steel challenge and 2/3 gun matches.

Upgrayedd – I am the guy sniping from under the truck. That was a staged photo for a television show we were a part of.

Kengel2 – shoot me an email at info@nolatactc.com and I can better explain the memberships. Classes do not necessarily shut the range down.

Jdavid1 – obviously “expensive” is a subjective thing. I prefer to look at value. Value is also a function of what “you” value, meaning what is important to you. I am confident what we offer is a significant value for those who value amenities, exclusivity, safety, and professionalism.

Comapring us to the other facilities you listed is really an apples v oranges comparison. Perhaps a better understanding of what the facility is, it’s core goals and focus, and the specifics about the membership benefits would help make it all make a little better sense. Feel free to reach out to me at anytime.

Da Hammer - fell free to contact me about scheduling a range tour.

GeauxTigers0107 – Yeah, it is pretty interesting, and a kick in the arse to boot. We will be the only range in the country with this activity. It is a really cool system, basically model airplanes going about 75-80 MPH that you shoot with skeet shot and they have exploding pods on the bottom. We will have some videos out about it soon when we release the activity.

If that was funny, then the flamethrower range is going to be hilarious. LOL

Propagandalf – We have a camera system. We use TargetVision. We currently have four systems and will be expanding those in the future.

Brannon, I never thought I'd see you join the OB. But if you're as available here as you are in the Facebook CHP group I bet you'll see some good business come in. It's a good group of guys in here and we do our best to support the locals.

I'm also looking forward to your buddy Phil's new up and coming shop. It's a good time to be a gun owner.

Welcome aboard.

Hi Brannon let me get by the next few weeks and I plan on visiting. I am pretty excited to have the amenities you all provide. 1300 yards is a LONG way can't wait to bang the gong at some point!

Awesome man, I am super stoked about this next chapter. We have a lot of really cool things in progress, and I am sincerely open to feedback and great ideas from folks to support the shooting community and shooting sports.

You bet, just let me know. If things continue to progress, we should have 2000 yards by the end of the year.
