Guess I need to check for a demo days

Depends what type you get. I'm 6'-3 and my younger brother is 6'-6, neither have problems in mine but they are touring yaks.

You could buy two of these kayaks for the price of a KC. Maybe I'll tell my wife I'll buy her her own.

Not sure. I have a buddy that works at the BPS in Denham. Gonna ask him if he will let me try one over there.

Deacon ask him about demos. I would definitely make the drive from Houma to go test one of these out. I'm debating on selling my road bike that I rarely use to get a yak

BCKFC has worked a few info days at Bass Pro, and they have never let anyone but store personnel paddle kayaks in their pond. Cabela's has before, I just don't know if they allow demos all the time or just on special event days and obviously they don't carry the Ascend kayaks.

Thing looks like a Hobie pro angler sans mirage drive. I'd want to test out the stability but it looks nice especially for the price. With the kayak boom lately I'd be surprised if ascend prices dont go up soon.

That link is't working right now for some reason. I got one of these last week. The only reason I pulled the trigger was because I got 40% off. I paid less for this one than I did for the regular FS12 3 years ago.

I took it out once so I can't really give it a review. A few thoughts:

The hatches and mounts are sealed pretty poorly. Only one leaked on my yak (I poured water directly on them to test) I will probably re-seal all just to be safe. I also tightened the bolts / screws, some were a little loose. I tigtened the bolts on the seat and will probably add a lock nut.

Tracks really well. (I was in a small lake)

It's heavy. Needs side handles. I have a dolly, so no issues for me.

Lots of deck space and storage.

The seat is a dream....very comfy.

I stood up and sat down with ease. Set a hook on a small bass while standing....no issues.

Not going to dance a jig while standing, but can sight cast easily.

That's about all I got for now. It was a no brainer for me to buy this at $429. I would probably still recommend at $699 for someone that has to pay full retail.
