Like others have said, the biggest you can handle. With me it's a matter of browning all my meat in one batch.
One thing you have to be careful with when using a bigger one is the amount of gravy. Being it's more spread out, it'll fool you. Putting enough water to raise the level of the gravy that you're used to seeing in any "normal-sized" pot can fool you.
For a camp I prefer a cast iron over a magnalite all day. The option of cooking over a fire (which for me would be my most common method anyway) is a big plus. It'll make a Magnalite pot black. Not that it matters for a camp pot, necessarily, but I only use my Mag's over a gas burner/stove or glasstop.

My favorite is a 3 gallon round bottom pot I have. It has a flat surface on the bottom but the inside is round. I can put it on any burner or stove and cook. Light enough to carry around very easily.
This one
My wife bought it for me and I thought I would never use it. But it gets used often. I can even put it in the oven. Didn't pay but $50 for it I think.

I cooked some catfish last weekend. It was only for wife and I so not a big pot ful. Found a small cast iron pot in the back of the cabinet that I'd forgot I'd bought. Even had a lip on the lid to put coals on top.

Whatever you get, don't get the round one with the small flat bottom. I don't know how to describe it other than it looks like a round bottom pot but has a small flat bottom to sit on a burner. My mother gave me one and I ended up giving it away. You can cook 15 lbs of meat in it, but only brown 10% of it. Get a big flat bottom pot.

Good for jambalaya, gumbo, étouffée.
For cooking whole rabbits, dove or other critters I'd rather a flat bottom. Anything else round bottom.

Number 12's will fit in the oven and are a great size. I used two this morning and did jambalaya for 100.

My 12 quart dutch oven feeds 10 no problem. My 8 quart oven is enough for dessert.

Extra room in the pot is fine. Not enough room is badddddd.
Round bottom>Dutch oven for almost all cooking.

Y'all have convinced me to get a round bottomed one. What y'all reccomend? 12-15 qts will suffice.
With all the Cookin I do, idk why I've never got one.

I have a 3 gallon. Trick is to have a good burner to get very hot flame and very low flame.

Very good to have. I have one but the burners put out too many btu's. can't adjust low enough for some things. Camp chef makes a really good two burner stove.

7 for cornbread, 14 for cooking. I am a cast iron fiend. I am always on the look out for older cast iron pots and pans at antique stores etc.
As a matter of fact, I burned the gunk off of 2 cast iron pans this eveneing, a 5 inch and a 7 inch, and re-seasoned them.
Older cast iron is WAY better than the new crap Lodge is putting out, a little elbow grease and they will be like new again.

Now that is a good idea for firing off the gunk.
