I've got a couple things I need done. I need nightsights installed on my XDm, and I want to get my 1911 tapped for a scope rail, like this:

I'm also working under the assumption that this is the best way to mount a red dot on a 1911 with no tac rail. If anybody has a better idea, please let me know.

I wouldn't go to Jim's. They weren't very knowledgable on how to fix my browning gold. I would have broke it in half if I listened to them.

The gun "smiths" at jims arent smiths. Mechanics maybe...

But next time you talk to them, as how many of their "smiths" have shot either themselves, the ground, or the ceilings back there.

The young kid who ran the concealed carry class I reported for pointed non deactivated firearms at all of us throughout the "class" and passing out ammunitiom with said firearms for people to look at.

There was an old guy who was always in hebert guns who was good.

Obviously red jacket was...although they are a bit busy with the business the show brings these days...

Doctor RDS mounts. LINK

Not sure I'd have people drilling holes in a 1911, unless it's a low-end gun and/or you're not worried about possibly devaluing it.

That 'scope rail' looks like it is anchored to a tac rail. As already mentioned, I wouldn't drill holes in it.

Go to Vince Buckles at Kyber Pass in Gonzales or Barking Irons on Airline. That's where I take my guns, they do a good job on mine

I had a real shitty experience with these guys with my 1911. They didn't fit the magazine release. My mags would stop halfway in my gun. When I asked them about they said to just jam the mag in real hard to knock off the metal. Needless to say I wasn't going to jam my $30 Wilson mags into my gun. I brought it to Rynersons and had them fit it properly.

That's why GS now refer to as a "hard" fit. It's the term 1911 smiths have been using to justify unfinished guns. Pretty sure it was coined by Les Baer.
