Looking for recommendations on a reasonable substitute. Nobody seems to have them in stock. It was a sweet little piece. Perfect size. G27 Subcompact | .40 S&
For the record, I know very little about sidearms. This one was recommended to me. Fired maybe 30-40 rounds. Meanwhile, heading down to the local PD tomorrow to get it listed in the database.

Don't buy a 40 cal again. Get a 9mm w/ some 124 HPs.
If you want to stock with Glock, get a 43x or a Shadow Systems Cr920.
Otherwise look at Sig p365 or a Springfield Hellcat.

Not trying to be a dick to the op, but I agree. I sold every 40 I have except one and got 9mms. The one I kept was given by a deceased family friend that I’ll keep forever.

He probably has ammo already. .40 gets wayyyyyy too much hate around here.
To OP, get a high point 40 if there's a chance this might happen again.
If not, get another glock 27.

Truck gun...
Taurus 3G or 3GC.
Under 300. Great gun. Saw a 5000 round review. No fails. Guy at work bought 2. Shoots well. Taurus moved to Florida and those 3G guns are great.
I like the glock 43x size so wife can shoot. Paired with the shield arms mag you get a great size glock and a 15 round magazine.

Just got the magazines from shield arms in.
Can hold 15 rnds with flush magazine. They do recommend changing mag release to the metal one they make.
Also got the S9 to convert the 43 to a 9+1

Where are you located? I know where there's a g27 only fired a few times someone would part with, probably some ammo too.

9mm is probably better option. Look k to Glock 19, 43, 45
If you want 40 cal then get the G29 in 10mm so you can shoot 40 as well

Have you looked at Baton Rouge police supply?

So I see all the hate for the .40. But why? Haven't seen a clear reason why - except "Get the 9". What's the upside to the 9 other than more rounds? As mentioned, I have a low firearm IQ.

9mm will have more ammo availability but other than that the .40 is fine. Get whichever you like. People stress too much about capacity. A five shot snubnose had enough capacity for the vast majority of defensive shooting situations.

Many major city LEOs, including some 3 letter agencies have dropped the 40 for excessive gun wear as well as officer's not being able to requalify at the range due to higher pressures compared to the 9. So I hear.

You don’t say?
OP, I hope you aren’t keeping guns in your truck all the time. Not secure.

Glock 26 is what you need. The 40 cal wouldnt be my choice. It is the same as your stolen 27 and you will be comfortable with it. All Glock double stack mags and drums will fit it.
I have a custom Glock 27 in stock with match grade barrel, battle worn slide and an Apex trigger. I believe it also has a flared magwell installed.
Contact Styx River Shooting Center in Robertsdale AL for info and pics. We can ship it to you. I believe it is listed around 750 bucks. I can get you a Glock 26 for around 569 bucks.

quote:Let's talk about this. To each his own? Are you suggesting I remove the weapon from my truck and bring it inside at the end of every day and reverse the process the next morning? I live in a VERY low crime area. Is this a generalization or should it just be accepted as a peril of defending yourself? The truck was not broken into. I'll freely admit to occasional absentmindedness. There were opportunities when the truck was unlocked and out of my sight and access to the gun was there (oil change, overnight stay at a car repair shop, maybe one or two others). I'll even confess to forgetfulness and leaving it unlocked a night or two over the years, but that doesn't even move the needle in terms of theft probability. The gun was 16 years old (5,821 overnight stays in the glove box). I estimate the theft was committed over the last 30 days (I don't check the console every time I get in).

I made the decision a long time ago that the gun would be a permanent fixture inside the truck based on my own day-to-day habits and the unpredictability of when and where crimes are perpetrated, along with the idea of losing the gun vs having it ready when the fit hits the shan. When I get the replacement weapon, I fully intend to revert back to my old habits and accept the probability of the whole thing happening again - maybe this time being a little more diligent. Relatively speaking, losing a gun is a small price to pay for being alive. You can replace the gun.
