Just don't advertise bullshite numbers. That's a major issue IMO. Somebody (whoever is responsible) should publicly come forward and admit that the numbers are inaccurate and correct them immediately.

My ecoboost avg 18 I drove mainly hwy some city..in city only get about 15. Best I have gotten is 21. Gotta stay out that throttle. I will say this my 5.0 got the same maybe worse and was 2wd. My trucks a fx4 with the 20s. Pulling it's a beast but doesn't get good mileage. ..once again didn't buy a truck for mpg...want that mpg buy a prius

Ford was actually sued not long ago for this exact reason. Was over the C-Max hybrid and embellished EPA ratings.

They run the tests in a completely controlled environment inside so they can get optimum conditions. The numbers are never real world numbers, but just a number that is possible if all conditions are perfect.

It's never an average, just a max

Eta: I haven't ever checked my mileage, but I am on this tank. Expecting somewhere in the neighborhood of 10mpg mixed city/highway

And it's bullshite.

If I post a horsepower number that's off by 25% my arse is going to get laughed out of the industry. These goons just slap whatever kind of fairy tale number they want on the sticker and tell you you're driving wrong when you don't get it.

Automobile customers are not demanding enough and the manufacturers know it.

Tow ratings, hp/tq numbers, mpg. It's all the same. Just arbitrary numbers used to sell trucks

It would be really nice if they started dyno'ing trucks at the tires to get actually power numbers. I know I'm putting down more power with my 4.10s than someone with 3.42s, but no one would ever know if they didn't know about gearing. I also know I'm gonna get much worse overall mileage. We're talking about the higher gears getting 13/14mpg and lower getting around 10

And it's all bullshite.

Publishing arbitrary made up numbers rustles my jimmies more than people hoarding .22 bullets.

Shout out to Tots

After that 250, I will forever buy trucks for reliability and not some stupid numbers

I never understood buying a truck in the hopes of getting good gas mileage. Trucks are for towing, farming, hauling shite and off road use. They should have V8's, mud grips, a dog and a gun rack.

There's no reason trucks shouldn't be expected to get good fuel mileage with today's technology and the price of trucks.

I didn't buy my truck for mpg's, but I would still like to get delivered something relatively close to what I was promised.

It's like having 50k mile tires that really only last 35k- you're not getting what you paid for.

My 5.0 gets 21 mpg doing 70 with no wind as advertised by the EPA.
