Not on WMA or National Wildlife Refuge land.

Should have clarified.

Ummm...you can shoot 5 just like residents brah. Anyone with a license can kill 8 deer/yr.

ETA I just noticed there's no daily bag limit on antlerless on private lands now. A couple evenings on a good food plot can get you all your does.

I have hunted and worked all over Mississippi for 30 years, and cannot name an area that has more deer now than when they did away with doe days and went to does any day of the year.

I know the pressure put on the deer is a big factor in seeing deer though. You can go to somewhere like Nebraska or Kansas, where documented deer densities are far less than Mississippi, yet you see 10x more deer in those states. The difference is in Mississippi and Louisiana you have someone within earshot of a deer every fricking day during hunting season. Seasons are too long, and weapons restrictions don't really exist anymore. This new "primitive weapons" season won't do anything but exacerbate the issue. Thanks Obama.

Leaseholders can. If you are a guest on someone else's lease or private land you technically cannot kill does. (I think now season is ok though)

Side note: I'm up here in your neck of the woods today. Talisheek, to be precise.

The crib is about 15 mins from there. However, I'm about 2 hours and 15 minutes from there.

Hunters here in my part of Mississippi have been bitching about deer populations being low for years. I keep telling them a Weyerhaeuser pine plantation is severely lacking in forage, but no one listens. However, when you hit the hardwoods around here, deer are almost as numerous as squirrels.

Morons.

I kid you not, I have seen deer near downtown Jackson. In Madison, I've seen them in backyards in suburban neighborhoods.

ETA: Oh. My bad. I skimmed your post.

This is a guess, but I would imagine you have more trees in Mississippi.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope

These counties are in Texas-

Although deer hunting is a major industry in this region, the area where Mason, Gillespie, Kerr and Llano counties converge supports the highest deer density in the nation, with one deer for every 2 to 3 acres.

You're just now seeing this? It was made public at least one year if not two years ago.

Hey if you don't like it, hunt louisiana. You fools are already paying way too much for the crappy land you're leasing up.
