Dong number one got bored and wanted to hike in the woods in search of wild creatures. We were 50 yards in and Mrs. dong stumbled upon this beast. We dispatched of him quickly. Fourteen rattles and 52" long.

Skinning is easy. Just slice a straight line down his belly all the way until you reach the base of the rattles. Put your boot on his head and peel off and cut the tail right above the rattle.
A few months ago I made a really cool skin mount of a 5 ft rattlesnake. Take a 2x6 board and stretch the skin around it right after you skin him. Once you get down towards the rattles cut the board into a "V" shape that will fit the narrowing skin. Let the rattle hang just below the end of the board. The skin will naturally try to cling to the board. Let it dry out in the sun a few days and you are done.

Dong,
if you want to preserve the skin .... Snake skin tanning kit
or use a 50/50 mixture of denatured winter green alcohol and glycerin - both can be purchased from CVS. Scrape all meat and fat from skin . Roll the snake skin and put in a mason jar and let it sit for about 5 days. Shake the jar every day, just to mix up the contents and you are set.
when done dry off and coat with baby oil so it doesn't dry out

I used to use baby oil, iodine and glycerin. I couldn't remember until you posted glycerin.

They didn't have KY back in the day.
Nice kill I hate snakes but I wouldn't mind mounting one like that one.
