Bird numbers were rebounding from record lows, we managed some birds but nothing incredible. 90% of our hunting was done on public WIHA land. With that being said the wildlife and scenery in general in this area is incredible. Here are a few pics from the trip BigHoss and I made.

We didn't have deer tags so all deer lived to see another day.

Good stuff as usual. What part of Kansas were you in? I've been wanting to go up there and deer hunt on public land

Awesome pics!

Snow had to be caused by leaving the yeti opened overnight.

Yetis was the cause of the 18-20" of snow. We asked the locals what they did when they got snow like this and they said "Hell if I know, it never snows like this here."

Beautiful pics! Looks like yall had a big time! How did your dogs react with all those deer jumping up all over the place like that? Good looking bird dogs, too, btw!

Great pictures! Curious of any recommendations for upland hunting. I've only done preserve hunts but a trip out west or Dakota is calling me, just not sure where.

I started going in 2010 and 2011 just me and 3 GSPs to Kansas. There is a ton of Public walk in hunting land all over the state. I made mistakes and learned. The pheasant states have bird count number that come out in the fall, they can help narrow down your destination, by state and area of the state to hunt. The drought hit many areas in 2011 and has just started rebounding in Kansas. Last year a group of OB members made a trip to South Dakota. There is a thread or two in the FAQ thread at the top of the page. This year me Hoss and I. wanted to get more dog work and less push and blocking hunting so we headed back to Kansas for hunting smaller pieces of property...
