re: Looking for affordable AT Tires…

I moved away from ATs after my last set of Nitto TGs. The on-road performance was just too bad, especially in rain. Went with the Michelin LTX, which are fantastic. The way I look at it, if I can't get out of where I'm at by popping it into 4 Low, then tires wouldn't have made a difference.

I have firestone destination a/ts currently, and they're nice but probably not worth the money. They have better tires for the same price.

I'm looking at Toyo Mt's for my F250. Sounds like I should buy them online for the best price?

Why would you use 4 Low instead of 4 Hi?

I've mentioned these a bunch on here...
But, I had General Grabber A/T's in 305/70/16 and they were the best A/T tires for the money I've seen. Lasted 60,000 miles, were under $850, and cleaned out in mud/sand/snow better than the BFG's I had before or any Nitto's my cousins had. Quiet for that size too. Great tire for the money. I'll be getting another set when my stock tires get low.

General grabber AT2.
The tread has the same pattern as the BFG AT and I just got a set of 265 70 r17 online for $680

The BFG Rugged Terrain is a decent tire that's priced below their A/T. I'm not sure of the specific price, though.
I've had a set of 31x10.50R15s on my Jeep since last summer and have been very pleased with them. Great traction, and really good in the rain. And I was pleasantly surprised in the snowstorm a few weeks back. Put her in 4Lo and climbed some pretty slick steep hills here in Birmingham and never lost grip. The only issue I had was when making a right hand turn onto another street, since it was a little tighter than a left hand turn. They slipped a little bit, but not enough to really matter. But if it will do that on a sheet of ice, I'm happy with it.
I think my total price was around $750 for a set of 4, mounted and balanced with the road hazard insurance on them as well. I had to order them from National Tire and Battery, since they were on their website, but not stocked at the location I was going to.
You're probably going to pay more for them being larger rim sizes, but maybe not that much more.
I'm going to get a 5th for my spare soon, since my spare is a BFG AT and only a 30x9.50, that way I can do a 5-tire rotation and the spare will be the same size.

I also just looked at ntb.com and they're running a buy 2 get 2 free on the Nitto Terra Grapplers. It would be $248/tire installed, but you'd get two more free. Not sure if this is in all locations since I entered my zip code, but worth looking into.

Seems way too good to be true 500 for a set of nitto terra grapplers? Where are you located?

Birmingham. I put in the Vestavia zip. If I hadn't just bought my set of BFG rugged terrains I would be all over this.

I have about 25000 on a set of at/3s and I swear they look brand new. But for 500 for a set of terra grapplers it may be worth a trip that's stupid cheap

I know. I'm tempted to buy them just because. I can always sell off the Rugged Terrains on Craigslist as only having about 4-5k on them, and pretty much pay for the Terra Grapplers.

I just checked my zip and while the buy 2/ 2 free is in place its still $900 after install. I just found the LT Nitto on tire buyer for 203...

check out the Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ. Mine are halfway through their life and they still look rugged and badass.

Are you looking for 10 ply? I doubt you will find anything under $200 for 10 ply.
