Hmm. This was a trip purchased through a charity so a base price isn't known. 4 people, 1 day, Venice. $100 a man?

$100/pp is a good number. I think if you hand a guide $400 in cash, he’ll be happy.

How old are your two sons?
With two days of fishing, I would look for a guide who would be willing to do inshore one day and nearshore rigs the next( weather dependent) . I think that experience would definitely make lasting memories. Native, Blue Line Charters, Southern Exposure, Fish Intimidator are just a few. They could set u up with lodging. Keep us posted

They’re in their 20s, but we’ve done plenty of bottom fishing and can do that locally. Unless I’m getting scammed by pictures, fishing that area for redfish isn’t duplicated in too many places.

I’ve been with Al Moreau, of Native Adventures many times. Great Captain and can boil seafood or grill for y’all. Camps he has are nice with full kitchens and grills available if you want to cook.

allen senior and his sons run a first class outfit down there! i highly recommend them and they always catch fish! aquatraction sponsors their boats with flooring.

also at the camp they cook and have a great time with their family and yours. its a super family friendly run place!

His rates are about the lowest I've seen for all inclusive. I don't really care how fancy the place is, I just don't want to have to fool with meals. If he knows his stuff that's probably who we're going with.

Some of the bigger places with 5-6 boats have complaints about getting some scrub day hire for a captain, I'm assuming because they overbook and sub out the cheaper clients. I'm more comfortable going with the smaller places that advertise one person.

It's not Venice but Bayou Charters/Charlie Thomason is about as much of a guaranteed limit of redfish year round as you will find

Talked to his scheduler today, she suggested late Oct or early Nov to make sure (to the extent that's possible with fish) the bulls are back from the deeper waters. She said if we want to go for slots one day/bulls the next that's the best time.

She said Aug is good because they haven't gone deep yet, but it's freaking August. Apparently there's a window around September when the bulls are out spawning, so you want if you want bulls you go before or after that.

Eric Newman with Journey South Charters is a great guide. Jordy gets on fish as well.
Time of year depends on what you want to catch but any guide worth a penny should be able to get you on something year round.

Mentioned above , Native Adventures in Venice does a great job. Allen and family are good people. Very good guides, boats and service...vacuum seal your fish, too. We had a group of 11 the last two days...ripped the fish.
