Is it recommended to get the barrel like that?
Plus is that gun you shown me a .223/5.56 NATO type?

Northern, good recommendation. I love my BCM. Super slim and light.

You're not asking the right question.

What is this gun going to be used for? Long range shooting? Home defense? Hunting? Patrol rifle? Ranch rifle? Recreation? Tactical target shooting? 3-gun?

There are a wide variety of uses for an AR15. Until you can answer that question, you will be walking around with a blindfold.

That being said, Ruger and S&W are quality starting points in the ones you listed.

It will be for home defense plus for being a farm/patrol rifle.
My max budget is $1,500

No lie you can get a decent AR-15 for 750-900. All these people telling you to spend 1300 are whack yo. You could use the extra allowance on ammo

I bought a DPMS for 700 about a year ago and it's a great AR15 for first time users of the platform. I believe you can get your local gun shop to order an unfurnished colt 6920 for around 700 and put on whatever handguard/pistol grip/buttstock you want.

Noveske and Daniel Defense are some pricey gats

A 5.56 will shoot .223. A .223 will NOT shoot 5.56. Be careful and aware.

Why not build one?

I have 3 and have built all of them. Not hard to build them at all and you can make it look exactly how you want.

Rarely do you find an AR15 that is chambered in .223. I would say 99% of them are 5.56 chambered.

The cartridges have the same dimensions but 5.56 NATO is higher pressure.

Daniel Defense gets my vote for the $1500 range.

Check out the V1lw. If I was looking for a 16" carbine right now, that's where I would spend my money.

Delton, I've got one, it shoots accurately. $570 total including transfer and a UTG rear sight from Midway.
