Just got a nautic star 224xts with a 200 Yamaha and really like it. Very comfortable and dry. However, I wish I would have got the 250 and two power poles instead of one. With a 200 loaded I cruise at 40 and at 6000 I do 45. Also one power pole with any wind is a PITA. I know, first work problems right?

If you go NS make sure you get one like magic man that has the 8'6" beam. The other models are 8' beam. Changes the boat a lot

I'm with you on wanting a boat, but I just haven't figured out what crime to convict my wife of yet. Once she's out of the picture, I'm sure I can get whatever I want!

Get an insurance policy on the wife and boat. Take her out for a midnight cruise. Have a "horrible boating accident". Collect insurance money on both.

Win-win.

The frontier Seapickle shared for sale is a very good deal. I have the same exact frontier bay boat and paid the same with the same options. That boat with the 200 sho will run 61-62 with half tank And two people. I can run loaded with 3 people and gear and full tank 56-57 at 5800-5900 RpMs. Great boat and dry ride...I'll keep my opinions on nautic stars to myself. Everyone has their likes and dislikes. Like he said make sure you get one with the wider beam..good luck convincing your wife, mine wanted a bigger boat so I didn't argue and bought one

Please do share your opinions on NauticStar. You wouldn't be doing a founding fathers any justice if you didn't voice your opinion.

My dad has this boat with a Yamaha 250 he'd possibly consider selling. It's a 2010 I think, low hours too.

While the 224-244 xts are nice boats they are very expensive. The two I've rode in were wet and didn't offer much room and storage. The 21xts layout is terrible. The so called fish box is so small idk what you would put in it lol. They come with nice equipment and aren't built bad but they don't ride the best and the layout isn't very diserable but that's my opinion on the two I've been in. The sport series i have never been in but they are similar.

I like how open my boat is and the room. Several ob fellas have fished with me and enjoyed it and the room. Overall I'd buy one again and even talked Seapickle into buyin one lol

Space...haha

No bow "fish box" let you put any size ice chest. That's a 100qt Coleman. Flared bow opens the bow up all the way down the hull.

Could use a few more inches behind leaning seat. Getting a beer isnt bad but getting a 65 or 75 qt yeti out is a little tight but that space comes with a 24' boat. Here I'm scrubbing fricking sunscreen that busted that the girls left in the leaning seat

Lol.

We have 214xts with 200hp yammy. Idk how who dat considers it a wet boat. I've been 14 miles offshore in it with a decent chop (more than you'll see in a lake/inshore) and I stayed dry.

Also, no issue keeping a 4 man limit of snapper, some mangys and trout on ice. We just use the 90qt ice chest under the leaning post and put drinks in a yeti bag or the in deck ice box.

I wanted 24, but had to compromise. Still love the 214 though. It's a great boat.

I know this is a bit of a personal question, but how is everyone buying 30-60K boats?

Are you paying straight cash, taking out a loan on it?

I can't convince my wife to put a loan on a boat...she says must be paid up front and she wants to spend anyting not set aside for retirment on the house.

UGH

good advice from your wife but every situation is different
money has been cheap for a while now so smart borrowing is not as difficult
if you can manage your finances it's no different than buying a car

I put 10k down and financed the rest. With interest rates so low now my boat interest rate was lower than my house until I just refinanced the home

she won't buy a car until she can pay for it with cash in hand.

Again, I know it's a personal question. I don't have any issue with someone taking out a boat loan. As you mentioned, it's cheaper now (as far as interest rates go) than later.
However, boats are damn expensive now. I just can't get over the number of 30-60K boats I see on the road these days.
Is it all on credit? Or do people just fork out that amount of cash?

Again, no judgement on my end. It's your money, do what you will. Especially when it comes to quality of life ... when you work hard for that life.

Panga Marine Marquesa

I love the lines on this boat and it's much more versatile than any other 22' boat.
