That's my thought process as well, I just hadn't been able to find what I'm looking for. I missed a Native Magic and a Perception Pescador that would have been great deals. I had decided that if I couldn't find anything decent used I'd go for the Pescador or the Ascend that are both linked in the OP.
I got my Native Redfish 12 from Massey's for $300. They always have demos for sale.

I'll be in New Orleans this weekend so I'll have to stop by to see what they have. Ideally I'd like to stay in the $300-$500 range.

ETA: They're closed this weekend, so nevermind.

Just give them a call to see what demos they have on sale. They'll tell you what they have at all of their locations. They shipped mine to BR for me to pick up.

My buddy tops a ride135 on a jeep wrangler daily.

does he have the rack for it, or just straps it to the top?
if he just straps it, does he have a hard or soft top??

I have a soft top, and have been thinking of getting a kayak, I just don't know if it will mess up the top if I strap it down, or if I have to get a rack for it

He has a hard top with the 2 bars running across. He hauls it hull down on those bars with cam straps.

Not sure how it would work with the soft top.

What location would be the best to go to? I want to buy one but I'm taking my time. I'm making a trip Saturday to Leeville and renting one from Bobby Lynns to make sure I even like it

I'll add that the Old Town Predator Kayak looks pretty sweet too. It is owned/built by the same company that produces the Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game II and they share a lot of the same features:

Just call one of their stores and ask if they have any demos for sale. I went to their Towne Center location to look at the Slayer 12 ($300-400 over internet prices) and asked about the Redfish 12.
