Anybody ever tried cooking lobster in a crawfish boil? Just wondering how it turned out. I'm sure the meat is still just as tough, but the flavor has got to be improved over the more traditional ways.

I did it boil them just like you would crabs. Let them soak for a good 20 min. They come out purrrttttyyy good.

Yes. They just really don't pick up the flavor like crawfish. I have heard you can hit them with a ice pick to get some seasoning inside. If they are tough you are overcooking. Check out this thread Just got update lobster prices from the Lobster Guy

I've done it. Like the others said, they really don't pick up much flavor but they were certainly better than steamed

I've done it. They are good, you just have to let them soak a LONG time.

Would poking them with a pick help? I know people like the shell, buy what about removing the meat and rolling it around in your hands to soften it up, then putting it back in the shell?

I've done it, but a well steamed lobster and melted butter is hard to beat.

I like to eat it for it's own sweet flavor, why hammer it with pepper?

My uncle said he's tried every way possible to get them to pick up flavor. Long soak time, poking holes in the shell, etc. It just won't soak in.

When living in Aruba, we'd go catch those spiny lobsters all the time. Had all the good boil ingredients shipped in and tried multiple times. Never could get those bastards to pick up the flavor right.

Peel, season and wrap that shite in bacon. Put on the grill. Butter sauce on the side.

I would say season your butter or dipping sauce, its really hard to beat a properly steamed lobster.

Either steam it and eat with butter or maybe stir fry it with ginger and scallions.

I've done it a handful of times. Like everyone says, it doesn't pick up the flavor as much. But boiling and dipping in butter is as good as any steamed lobster I've had (although I admit I don't have tons of experience eating lobster from "good" restaurants).

When I was a boy, remember the neighbor catching huge crawfish out of the River. Don't know how he did it, other than line, pole & salt pork.
