Zeiss Conquest$750 or Leupold VX-3 $550??

Both are 3.5-10 x 50mm

I decided to get a better scope. These are the two I will likely purchase. Is the Zeiss worth the money?

I was making the same decision 3 years ago, but with 4.5-14x50. I went VX-3 and couldn't be happier. It is an excellent scope and I have never had a problem with it. It's still crystal clear.

The Zeiss on my father's rifle did not draw as much light as a Nikon when we checked them. FACT. Both are 40mm lens.

This was in the 90s.

The conquest is a fine scope and worth the money, but I honestly feel that the VX-3 is as good or better for less money. If I had it to do over again, one of my Conquests would not have been purchased. I would have gone with the VX3. THe other Conquest was a smokin deal, so I have no regrets on it.

I love my Leupold VX-3 50mm. It's practically night vision. lol

And my Leupold Mark 4... words fail me. It's REAL nice.

Little tip, if you know someone that's a hunter safety instructor, see if they will buy it for you. They get an insane discount on them.

Was a leupold man until I bought my first zeiss last year. It is worth the money in my opinion. Unbelievably clear at any level of light.

Zeiss is the best scope for the money IMO. Excellent scopes and they rival the $1500 Swarovski's.

Depends on what Zeiss we're talking about. Conquest is not =/=Diavari. If it's the Conquest you speak of, then our experiences have not been the same. Not saying that one is head and shoulders above the other either way, just saying that I wouldn't buy the Conquest again in lieu of a VX3. And FTR, I'm really not worried about the price difference.

are you completely against a Nikon?

I love my Buckmaster for less than half the price of that Leupold you listed

I have 2 Prostaff 3-9 Nikons.

I am worried about the recoil from a large caliber rifle effecting Zero.

The Nikon BuckMaster is $309. also a 3-9 x 50
The Nikon Monarch UCC 3-9 x 40 is $199.

I have had success with my Nikon scopes even older ones worked great. Just listening to people with more knowledge about this than myself leads me toward the Leupold.

I have the VX-2 in this scope and have used the Leupold VX-3. It is all the scope you will ever need hunting deer in the south. Your money would be better spent on more bait fields, field cameras etc. If you are going to Africa ot Alaska ....well you may one the nest money can buy and i assume you have it to spend

Both are good scopes. I actually sold all my scopes and have been converted to bushnell. Sounds weird, but they are putting out some serious stuff now.

I will be using a Bushnell HDMR 3.5-21 on my new gun since everything in my sig is gone now.

Get the Zeiss Diavari 3-12x56. You'll NOT regret it. Can't be beat in twilight conditions.
