I am interested to see how this one turns out, even though it seems to me it should be pretty cut and dry.

Good for him

Question though, it said he shot him while fleeing. Did he shoot him in the back or shot him, guy tried running and the shot him more? I have no problem with it anyway but I can see how this could turn against him. The guy crossed the line and got what he deserved

That should be his only sentence.

i can't see him being charged. the article said the 911 dispatcher could hear him giving verbal warnings.

I don't think he should be charged either, but I have always heard crazy stories of people getting screwed in situations like this!

I take this sentence to mean he was shot then tried to flee but was to wounded too do so.

I guess it reads either way.

Good shoot. He told the guy to stop and he advanced anyway. Plenty of cause to believe he was about to be on the receiving end of a felony followed possibly by more on his family once he was down.

No charges. And yes, he needs to learn to shoot.

Ascension is a pretty conservative parish. I don't see him getting charged for this.

If Lott is charged with anything the NRA will have a field day with this.

I read it as Anderman wouldn't stop approaching Lott so Lott fired on him.

Lott's biggest problem is that Anderman is still alive. Lott should have used a shotgun, Anderman wouldn't be bothering anyone else.

Although the possibility of him having criminal charges brought against him is low the likelihood that he's going to be fighting in civil charges against the perp or perps family is pretty high in most cases like this. It's ridiciulous but it happens. Theres a good read on Bayoushooter about the aftermath one of the posters went through in a similar situation. I'll get the link and post it.

please do, its ashamed that you can't protect yourself and your property without some fallout or worry of civil litigation in situations like this.

I don't know, but I wonder if this could actually help him based on the circumstances; in other words, almost a "shoot to wound" type of defense, although this is not required by the law and would be silly to attempt to require.
