Does anyone know anything about this Tennessee River reservoir in Northern Alabama? I am stuck going to a three day family reunion for the in-laws next summer.

Me and my Bro-in-law are looking to disappear for most if not all of the Saturday. Anyone got a heads up on any good boat rental places in the area? I see there is one right by the lodge, but their powered boat rentals are a little salty.

I think the state park rents bass boats.

Town Creek Fishing Center (256) 582-8358

Honeycomb camp ground 256-582-9882 has fishing boat and pontoon rentals listed on their web site. LINK /

I wouldn't consider that "stuck" I'd consider that a vacation. Some of the best freshwater fishing in the U.S.

Anytime i have to spend multiple days with 90 of my in-laws, I consider that stuck. I'm just looking for an opportunity to get a little unstuck while I am there.

LOL...stuck on Guntersville. Not a bad place to get stuck at. I live up 431 from there. If you play golf the state park golf course isn't bad....and there's a couple of courses that aren't bad either.

It's a grass lake so be prepared for that.

We are staying at the state park Lodge. I noticed there was a gold course RIGHT there. I think my brother in law my try to schedule a tee time for that Saturday morning, then try to find a party barge for the evening hours just to get away from the insanity.

Our company always scheduled that course when we had a golf league. I love that course. Google "Gunter's Landing" too. Lots of elevation changes on that course.

Goosepond Colony and Plantation are nearby
Robert Trent Jones at Hampton Cove is about an hour or so up in Huntsville (nearby where I live).

You are going to end up with a bunch of people you don't want on your boat.

I think it was once considered the top bass lake in the country. It may have fallen off a little since then, I don't know. I'm not a huge fisherman, but I've probably fished there more than anywhere else.

Which month will you be there?

doubtful. This is a yankee Mennonite family from Indiana, they tolerate me about as well as I tolerate them. We aren't at odds with each other, but our ideologies can only coexist for so long at a time.
