Definitely correct. Last year I twice saw a nice sized copperhead in the yard but never could kill it. About a month later I saw a nice king snake in the same area but have never seen the copperhead again.

Normally, if you kill any rodent eating harmless snake you can look forward to 7 years of bad luck. If you kill a king snake it's 10 years of bad luck.
