My English bulldog died a premature death last May. I still tear up thinking about him.

exact same reason i had to put my 11 year old Dalmatian down. He was able to function like yours but you could tell as a dog owner that his quality of life had gotten to the point where you would have to be pretty damn selfish to continue to let him live.

You're a hell of a pet owner.

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close -- we two -- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Sorry to hear that. I have a 14 year old yellow lab that is getting close to needing to be put down. It's going to be real hard. We have an 8 year old black also and just got a little chocolate one (8 weeks now) but still will be sad to let the old guy go.

Sorry for your loss man. I've got a chocolate of my own that looks very similar to your Sammy. She'll turn 6 this winter.

She's starting to get arthritis in her back legs from injuries she got when she was younger. I'm debating on rather or not this will be her last year to hunt.

Rest in Peace Sammy.

Enjoy the dog biscuit fields in heaven.

I dread the day when it's time for my Annabelle. She's getting up in age too....I hope da Boots is what's keeping her young by running her around.

My condolences cdaniel76.
