I just got her last Friday. She was given to me from a friend that could not sell her. She is three months old and has been very good. She has learned everything I have taught her pretty much the first time. She knows how to sit, lay, heel, fetch (close and up to 40 yards).

I have had dogs, but I have never had a Lab. I'm just amazed by how quick she is learning. Especially the fetching part, she is easily going 40 yards in grass that hides the dead duck. Sometimes she goes further. She also doesn't go until I tell her.

I was wondering if this is normal? Also, does anyone have any suggestions on a DVD to buy for training her. I was told "Waterdog" was a good book but DVD not so good. Thank y'all and Geaux Tigers!

I melted when I saw your pup. We had one just like that - "Gumbo" - that ran into the side of a Suburban and had to be put down. We've had nothing but Labs and I can say you'll be hooked now, too. The best outdoor dogs there is! Enjoy your pup.

Good looking dog there. Richard Wolter's "Water Dog" is supposed to be a great book for labs.

Great looking dog. Great breeds deserve to be properly trained. Always intimidates me.

Thanks guys! I take every chance I can to train her. I even come home for lunch when I can. Enjoy the season, I'm going to try and get her out a few times.

Old School, but, it works... I used it on a few of my labs, including one that went to an ex governor of one of our neighboring states.. Good Luck, beautiful dog.

Fine pup.
I have Waterdog and if you follow the book, she'll turn out perfect. Get it quickly, though.
