Forgive me for my ignorance, but if i'm launching out of Jack MIller's do I pretty much just head south and go through the locks to get to some productive fishing spots? Talking bass here. Fished out of there one when I was younger and don't really remember much. Thanks for the info fellas!

You looking for someone to give you their fishing spots? From what I hear it isn't nessecary to go through the locks to get to good fishing.

You can get to some spots by taking the bayou straight across from the launch

Grand River (edit) is directly across from the launch. If you take that bayou almost to where it ends at the levee, you can make a left turn and get into Pat's Bay.

Even though they claim what every OB'er wants and ethanol free gas...their has is trash. They collect a lot of water in their tanks and wouldn't chance it with this rain.

Previous poster is correct in saying it's Grand River. Travel a few more minutes down HWY 75, cross the bridge to your right, then take a left and go over the levee. That ramp puts you in the Spillway. You can get to the Atchafalya, Shell Field, Nice Mile, really endless possibilities.

No, it is not. Bayou Sorrel is across the levee. Grand River is across from Jack Millers.

For the OP, I suggest looking at a topo of the area. Pretty much every canal you can get to from the landing has fish. The farther you get away from the intercostal, the cleaner the water gets. But fish can surely be caught in the muddy waters near it though.

You are correct with Grand River. It's been a while since I've fished there
Grand River also flows on both sides of the levee. My dad once told tales of great catches of bass on the Grand River Flats before it silted in.
I've always wondered if one could get a boat in there during high water periods.
Do any OB'rs know? I know there's a boat launch and camps in that area.

Spillway is way too high (for me) to try those areas right now. Gauge reading at the Sorrel Lock (FWS) needs to be down to ~ 4 feet and falling.

I'd stay on the Jack Miller//Verret side right now. Pat Bay & canals off the Upper Grand River should be a reasonable area to scout.

p.s. I think u meant to type "Nine Mile."

I actually heard that Bayou Plaquemine has been producing some nice fish. Someone won the Friday Jack Millers bass tourney a couple weeks ago only fishing in Bayou Plaquemine.
