If you want hot full house 10mm loads look at Underwood Ammo online

Looked at them but the website says you can't use them in a Delta Elite.

Due to the curved indentation at the feed ramp on the back end of the barrel, the bullet case is not fully supported and the pressures of hot loaded ammo could cause the case to bulge and possibly even rupture, causing detonation inside the chamber.

This issue is more prominent in Glocks because their barrel has an even larger feed ramp indentation. Glock owners call the bulge left in the bullet case the "smile" because it looks like a smiling face.

That being said, people have shot hot loads thru Deltas and haven't had issues, but there has been the occasional story of a failure.

So, shoot hot loads at your own risk.

Here's an image of the unsupported area on a Delta Elite barrel.

And the bulge that can happen to bullet cases because of it.

I've seen Underwood used in a few DEs with no problems. You probably should refrain from reloading this brass though because of the increased stress on the brass where it is not supported.

That's hilarious looking. Looks like belted handgun cases like a 300 Win Mag.

No doubt. I'd like to see what the primers look like on these cases. I bet they were some pretty hot loads.

1. Buy Delta Elite
2. Anticpate 10mm power
3. Can't use hot 10mm loads.
4. Use reduced loads.
5. .40 S&W

I love how companies invent these badass rounds just to have them watered down.

357sig/10mm/.357mag all suffer from it.

Nice looking gun -- very manly.

I guess I'm only at 90% on the manliness scale. (9mm/10mm)

Congrats on the new gun!! Literally, you should have you hands full w/ a 10 mm Auto. Keep us updated on your results.

The industry pressure standards (SAAMI) for safe loading of the 10mm Auto were developed w/ the unsupported barrels found in the Colt Delta Elite. Consequently, such loads are safe for your gun and to my thinking are still much hotter than the 40 S&W (the Underwood 180 load for the 40 S&W goes 1100 fps).

To each his own, but if the manufacturer of a load doesn't recommend it for certain guns, I wouldn't recommend it either. Yeah, maybe one hasn't observed a problem yet on the basis of "a few DE's," but what if there's a first time for everything. Why take the risk of a "kaboom" in a gun that's being held in both of your hands and only 2 feet away from your only two eyes and your only head, especially for such little gain? The Underwood load that's not recommended for the DE runs a 200 gr bullet a 1250 fps. The Underwood load that IS safe for the DE runs a 180 gr bullet at 1250 fps. I see no reason to risk injury for a bullet weighing just 20 gr heavier. If a 180 gr bullet at 1250 fps is not enough gun for me, I'm going to get a bigger gun.

Never said it was safe to do, just that I've seen it done before with no problems. Personally, I wouldn't do it either.

To me, it sounded like you endorsed shooting the Underwood non DE ammo in the DE. Glad to hear we're on the same page, not recommending that practice.

Welcome to the club. This caliber is basically the reason I reload. No matter what you do...save your brass. If you don't have a use for it, you are only a "if it fits, it ships" box away from making good money just for brass.

On the chance I buy new brass, it can easily cost $26/ 100 pack. So feel free to factor that into buying practice ammo.

I reload so I keep all brass regardless.

Went to Academy today and they didn't have 10mm ammo. Was really surprised.
