I bought a used 2013 Ford F150. Come to find out, this must be the only year model where you can't turn off the setting for the interior lights, cargo lights, and daytime running lamps coming on when you open the door. Anybody got any suggestions other than trying to hotwire a switch into my panel board? I saw somewhere on the interwebs that maybe the dealer can reprogram the truck for "police blackout mode" but I called the dealer and they don't know anything about it. This is going to make it difficult to sneak up on turkeys before daylight. I creep through my club listening for gobblers, and it all goes quiet when I stop and all the lights come on when I open my door. Not so stealthy Ford.

Newsflash: They hear and see that truck long before they see the freaking dome lights and such when you open the door. Your idea of sneaky when it comes to turkeys, is not very sneaky.

You in Baton Rouge?

I can reprogram the computer. There is a "dark mode" you can activate that keeps all lights off on open door

Sounds to me like you're parking too close to the birds

The module configuration parameter that needs to be changed is

Body Control Module (BCM)

» Police dark car feature » -enable-

interior -AND- all exterior (front / rear parking and cargo) lights do not come-on when the door is opened and/or closed. *EXCEPTION: Door key pad will still illuminate.
.
when the fob is used to lock|unlock the doors, the parking lights come-on/turn-off for a VERY brief moment. *The time that the lights illuminate is MUCH, MUCH shorter than "normal". Would describe it as a flash.
.
when using the key fob to lock the doors, the horn will not sound.

It's not the truck that's the problem, it's the driver that wants to drive around listening for turkeys. Of course they go quiet. They can see your POS truck. You are worried about the interior lights. A turkey can see your truck from 10 miles away. What makes you think it's the lights?

it's freaking 6000 acre hunting club, with some good gravel roads through the timber. I walked/rode over 100miles on my gps just this spring scouting it. If I pull up at a crossroads, or on top of a hill and kill my engine to listen for turkeys, I want to be able to get out and walk to one I hear gobbling on the roost. I sure as shite ain't walking 5 miles around before daylight just to locate birds before I go into work. Unless the bird is roosted right near the road, I can locate them and drive away with out disturbing them, then come back another day to kill it. Been done many times before, it will just suck locating them with a big bright flashing truck.

10 miles away? Seriously? I'm not hunting in the desert, moron. If a hunter can't park within 10 miles of a gobbler, you better get hiking now before the season starts

If they can see your lights, they can hear and/or see that truck. The reason they are shutting up isn't because of your light.

Most of the birds I'm listening for can't see my lights, and I drive around with parking lights on. I'm listening for distant birds, half mile away or more. I kill the truck & lights and sit for 15-20 minutes, can usually hear several birds in different directions at daylight. But, if by chance one gobbles close, I want to be able to get out quietly in the dark with my gun and sneak down a trail to get him.

If he gobbles close, it's a 99% chance he didn't see your truck because of some obstruction, and therefore the lights won't matter. If he's gobbling, he's awake, and it's light enough for him to see your truck with or without the light. There are occasional turkeys that will gobble on the limb after someone has driven past within sight, but most of them will be silent after seeing a vehicle in the morning. I'll drive around listening for turkeys, but only under the assumption that any turkey that's within sight of my truck will not gobble. The light doesn't matter.
