If your spending that much go .338 lapua. Ask bushmaster he used to know a good place to get some really nice ones made.

Unless it's just hunting then go with any of the before mentioned.

Let's assume for the sake of argument that if you spend $4k, total, it will be $1,500 to $2,000 on a rifle and $2000 to $2,500 on a scope.

Out of the box, CZ750 + Leupold Mark 4 - should come in under $4k, depending on which Mark 4 you pick.

If you can go up to $4k just on the rifle, and are going to spend $3k to $4k extra on a scope (or already have a scope to put on a $4k rifle) - then I'd go custom off a McMillan stock and trued Remington action.

If ur in the Houston area this is the guy who does my muzzle breaks. Builds awesome custom rifles. Start at 3k and goes up from there. He is very legit.

probably get a sako 85 and put a leupold vx3 on it. Not sure what I'd do with the rest of the money.

Crazy thing is a friend of mine gave me a $3200 scope

Told me to buy a .308 so I don't want to buy $1,000 riffle w a $3200 scope. All the recommendations seem great and sorry for not getting back sooner. I'm thinking I need to build this bitch.

If you already have an optic, build your own. Surgeon action, bartlein barrel, whatever stock or chassis you like. You could even get a proof research barrel and would be more towards the 4k range.

If you're looking for a high grade classic hunting rifle in this price range I'd look at the Dakota 76.

Stil wondering what you're going to do w/ the gun. Having said that, I agree w/...

If you are just hunting with it go with a high end factory rifle and drop 300-400 on glass. It will prob be more accurate than you will be capable of shooting.

It's your money and you can spend it however you want, but one can get a heck of a good gun w/o spending $2000-$4000. I've got two custom XP-100 handguns that are extremely accurate and I didn't spend $2000 combined on the two guns.

Are you looking for something w/ some really special wood that bumps the price?
