Treated boards are a goner

Gonna go with composite

Any good composites out there ?

Trex , Azek ,moistureshield ?

Reviews are mixed

Dont want no fading and will use groved boards, hidden fasteners

Has the trex held up ?
How old is it ? Did you use the groved boards with fasteners ?

Have you looked at ipe? I have a dock that has rotted treated wood. I am going to have to do something before long. I think I am going to replace the stringers with treated pine designed for saltwater intrusion and top it with ipe wood. It greys like cypress without a finish and really shines with a finish. It is considered a lifetime wood.

All vinyl timbertek with hidden fasteners. Be prepared for 50$ per 16ft board though. Plus another 1sq ft minimum for stainless fasteners.

Dayum. Bet he wishes his deck wasn't quite so big now.

Mine sucks. About 5-6 years old, and looks like crap. Fades like crazy, still needs cleaned at least once a year. Warped in spots. 4 years ago I had to pull up about 1/3 of the boards because they were warped and bowing up, and put them back down with more screws at the warped spots to get them to sit back down tight. My framing was still in good shape so I put down the Trex boards onto that. I'm eventually going to tear the whole deck down and replace it. And it will be all wood.

Have not looked at IPE boards, but rite now Im leaning towards Moistureshield, Vantage.

$35 for a 1x6x12, grooved.

Most of the reviews are good.

I was looking at the AZEK, PVC, but that shite runs about $55 for a 1x6x12

The IPE is called iron wood, very dense, so much so, that it won't burn and you have to predrill boards because a screw doesn't properly screw into the wood.

My next deck will be IPE. It is such a nice looking wood and will last and last.
