I currently have 2 AK's I lost in a boating accident. I am looking to get my first AR 15 and wanted to know what's the best one under $1000 would be. Prices have come down so I figure now is a good time . Thanks .

I think so, but I could be wrong. If I was looking I would start spreading the word and networking for a used one. There are hundreds of non-fired impulse bought AR rifles out there ready to be dumped back into the market.

How reputable is PSA? Was wanting to hold off for another month or two but this is pretty tempting.

PSA is awesome, I know 3 different people that have PSA rifles and they are top notch. Everything is mil-spec and the barrels are made by FN.

ETA: if I decide to get another AR it will most likely be a PSA

Not trying to be a dick but the only thing military spec on an ar is the tube for the buffer and recoil spring.

There is a commercial spec tube and a mil spec tube.

That's the only difference.

That is it.

Sorry I was referring to such things as M4 feed ramps, F marked front sight post, MPI testing and staking.

MMC has been getting some really good reviews lately. Apparently, they had issues when they first started making them but have worked out the kinks.
