My old Technics receiver that I had for almost thirty years died today. It has been in my barn playing nonstop since 2003.

I have speakers already just need something to keep the radio going. Playing a iPod would be a plus but not necessity.

Should I just head to Best Buy.

What king of phone do you have and do you have music on it?

I have a bose that I bought a few years ago. I can connect my iPhone (plug it in) and it sounds great. The new ones are bluetooth and sound great.

Some of the smaller ones are really impressive on sound now a days.

I think what i'm going to do is find me an old used surround sound system at a garage sale or craigslist.

there is a button the top that lets you answer phone calls

Not strong enough to work all the time. Whatever I get need to support two speakers. One in the barn and one outside. I like to hear the radio riding.

Since you had speakers and all that I hesitated to give input, but as someone said earlier the Dewalt or really any other brand radio is great.
I'm surprised your existing speakers are still usable, must be listing to old country.

George Jones does no damage.

They are outdoor patio from Radio Shack. 13 years playing nonstop.

I have the Dewalts rocking' at the camp and shop, hard to beat. Side note is that I'm big time invested in Dewalt now but I'm pretty sure others would work fine.

Never thought of it. Not a bad idea.
