No personal stands/areas. If you want to hang a stand, fine, but it has to be on the board. Also, don’t do something dumb like hang it 200 yards down the road from camp stands... If you’re not an arse about where you want to hang a stand, good members will kind of back off, or ask if you mind them hunting that stand after you’ve had a few sits on it yourself.

It’s all about give and take. People naturally find places that they prefer and it usually works fairly harmoniously with the exception of opening weekend and around the holidays, but most of the time it won’t be too crowded. And you kind of know ahead of time when the busy weekends are going to be. With all that said, you’ve still gotta have a good group of people that aren’t going to get pissy when someone is hunting where they wanted to hunt.

Also, something that I’ve run into before is people will put their name on the board the night before the morning hunt, or at lunch before the afternoon hunt. You shouldn’t be allowed to do that. When you sign in, you should be heading to the stand when you walk out of the camp house.

the camp i am in used to not have any rules....then one family decided to not play nice. now every rule is because said family tried to do something not nice.

we have a set number of official personal stands. every other stand is a club stand.

This is my exact same scenario, you must be in my club!

I'm glad I don't have to put up with stuff like this. We have 6 members on 800 acres. We just have a board to pin where you are each day to keep other people from messing you up. If you want to wander off into an area and look for a place to hunt, just put 2 or 3 pins on the board so folks know you are somewhere in there. Or put a pin on the road so people know where your truck is and they go to a different road.

now every rule is because of this one family

yeah...our lease has about 12 rules. Most of which seem like common sense for safety, stewardship, responsible hunting, etc. But over half of those rules are traced back to this one idiot and his idiot kids about 8 years ago. They were kicked out, but now we have rules like, "No joy riding ATVs on property after dark or between the hours of X-Y and A-B during legal hunting seasons."

we started out with ~ 750 acres and there were 5 of us...
years later we had 5000 acres under lease and 60 members...
everyone had to be a member of the NRA which gave us discounts on insurance...saved our butts later on...
incorporated as a NFP club...
map at the main camp site and you had to pin in and remove your pin at the end of the day...
saved some people when we went looking for them after they didn't show up after dark...
we had a number of camp stands that we used when we drove dogs...
I wouldn't be suprised of some posters here belong to that club we started 40+ years ago...

If it is one member causing the issue, kick them off

It's "buck" naked. At least get the phrase right if you're going to tell us a tall tale.

1) No discussion of religion or politics
2) What happens at the camp stays at the camp
3) When in doubt, see rules 1 and 2

We also do not have "time rules" for getting on and off stands as it has never been an issue.

We don’t either, but we are mindful of each other.

We also have a group text between the active hunters. We let each other know when we leave the truck, when we get to the stand, when we leave the stand, and when we get back to the truck.

I sneak into tenfoes camp, see where people aren’t hunting, and hunt there

It’s fool proof

Very similar to my club. Have box
Stands on fields and right away. Mark on board wherever you hunt including A climber. Other members respect your hunt for
The day.

Our place is family only so I'm sure it's different. But we've got 6 people on 450 acres. Each has his own personal stand that we hunt 75% of the time. Another 4 community stands that we just take turns hunting and must let all hunters know the night before.

You can't hunt someone else's stand without permission. That bit me in the arse last week fyi. Lol

Wanna see grown men act like teenage girls... go to a golf club or hunting club.

Best rule is a circle of rocks in the front yard, all disputes are settled inside of them.

We have 6 of us. No rules. We communicate where we are hunting. We follow MS guidelines for shooting bucks. We’ve never had more than 3 of us hunting at a time.

Same as us. All permanent stands MUST be marked or you’ll be kicked out of club. Board where you mark your hunting location each morning and afternoon, first come first serve, if you use a climber, still have to mark on board the general area. We haven’t had any issues really. You want the best stand, get up earlier.

Our stands are first come, first serve with sign in time starting at 430 am and noon. Stands are marked by the wind direction and must be hunted accordingly. We sit until 10 in the morning at a minimum. You can’t sign for a stand in the morning that you want to hunt in the afternoon. Personal stands are open to all members and must be cleared with club president before putting up.
No real issues with people getting the stands they want. There’s enough out there where you can always find a good spot depending on wind direction.

5 members, 1 hardly hunts. 7 kids 600 acres. About 20 stands (bow hunting adults, mixed bow and gun for kids) All stand are club stands. We have a map and marker system but it doesn’t get used any more. We let the kids pick first. And the 3 or 4 adults, who may not be hunting with their kid, grab what is left. This is usually decided at supper the night before or breakfast the morning of.

Pay the extra money, have less members that have common goals and it eliminates a lot of bull shite. Let the killers be in there own club. Let the super smart, sneaky guys get their own place. Let the idiots hang out at the local gas station in their surplus Army clothes and Sitka gear and talk about hunting. You grab a few of your core fiends and kids, pay the extra money to have less of the other guys and enjoy every weekend.
