I've dreaded this for some time now. What are the OB's thoughts on all camp stands vs camp stands plus one personal? Or what have you done that works best? This is the first year we have had any issue with this. I am going to be looking at implementing a set of rules voted by the members for next season. Thank you in advance for your input.

the camp i am in used to not have any rules....then one family decided to not play nice. now every rule is because said family tried to do something not nice.

we have a set number of official personal stands. every other stand is a club stand.

about to deal with same thing ourselves. We have a couple new members put up personal secret stands in the woods and not telling anyone else where they are on the map board. I'm not going to hunt your shitty secret ladder stand that you just bought, but don't hide it 300 yds next to a box stand that is on the map board

Draw each morning, #1 gets his first choice of locations and so on. Wake up late, you get what’s left. Only fair way to do it imho.

Hunting Camp rules

Last hunting camp I was in we hired a stripper to sit on the pool table spread eagle butt naked and used her pussy as a backdrop for throwing dice.

Rules did not exist

You gotta have at least one stand that only you use unless you tell someone else they can use it if you aren’t going to show up that day

-each member gets 3 personal stands to put up (or tree if you don't want to put a stand and would rather climb).
-each stand has to be 350 yards from the nearest next stand.
-Cannot get off stand until 8:30am
-Must be on stand for 4:00pm

In March or April, maps are sent out for each member to mark their stand location on a map, then one big map is made and has all stands on that year.
If you want to put a new stand up, move a stand, etc, the move has to be approved by the board member assigned to that "area" of the land.

Why the downvotes?

Any openings?

ETA: any openings besides the one between the stripper's legs

All "right of way" and powerline stands are club stands. Pick a number each hunt for stand choice.

Each member can have two private stands in wooded locations 350 yards from another stand,

8 members on 600 acres with 14 boxes/stands. We share equally in all costs.

There are never more than three or four of us hunting at once, so we all just talk the night before about who is hunting where.

There are a couple of plots where we know there are good bucks, so we have a gentleman’s agreement that no one will shoot does there.

Smart clarification.

Our rules were, draw for picking order.... all stands were camp stands no personal stands (except for the exceptions) and if anyone was caught putting up a stand that wasn't on the map properly labeled and discussed with lease "manager" then they'd be asked to leave.

Now it's private land and we just sit around and talk about it over whiskey and make sure names are on the board for each stand either night before or before the 1st person leaves to go sit in the afternoon.

Depends on acreage and # of members. We have 3000 acres and 15 members. Each member allowed to claim 2 areas (350 yard radius). No limit to the number of stands, i.e. can put a ladder stand in woods by food plot where main stand is. Can venture out further with a climber/lock-on during bow seasons as long as it doesn’t interfere with anyone else’s stand.

The way our camp functions FWIW:

-Each person is allowed 1 personal stand. (Would be more if room allowed)
-Each person is solely responsible for their stands upkeep cost.
-All other stands are "camp" stands and are fist come first serve.
-We have a big map with all camp and personal stands. Personal stands are marked with red nails and camp stands are green nails.
-We hang our tag (has our name on it) on what ever stand we plan to hunt. Again, camp stands are first come first serve.
-In order to hunt a personal stand that is not yours- The person it belongs to must either be (A) not hunting, or (B) hunting another stand that is not their personal.

Typically we do not hunt each others personal stands. Rarely does it happen. We also do not have "time rules" for getting on and off stands as it has never been an issue.

This is what I grew up with. Early bird gets the worm. Hangover Harry gets the doe stand behind the camp.

You mean to tell me I don't have to hike three miles in and out, I get to sleep late, and I can shoot delicious does?

Are you guys taking memberships?

I was in a club that had no personal stands. You signed in for an area to hunt each day. That was the best.
