Fellas, take extra precaution when slipping through the woods during these last few days/weeks of the season.... this warm weather has the snakes out... Just killed a water moccasin in my driveway..... He wasn't real aggressive but moving along none the less....

Earlier in the season when it was warm like this and we hunted the WMA for the weekend we saw something like 5 or 6 cottonmouths between the 8 of us.

I only have to worry about rattlers on the lease in MS, and I have yet to see one, but we kill 2 or 3 every year during summer/early bow season

I saw multiple this weekend duck hunting, as well as alligators. Pretty crazy you have to worry about this in late january

My problem as well man. I have killed 2 rattlers this year and the third got away from me.

Where were you Sherburne? I was in the atchafalaya area and didnt see any. Are they in the swamps or out in open water like big alabama?

Last week when I was coming out, I was about to cross a log over the path I went in on. As I was about to swing my leg over I noticed a cotton mouth on the log right where my nut sack would've hit.

By the time I found a good beat stick he was gone.

Neighbor lady on our TX lease got bit last yr by a coral snake. When they gave her the anti venom she then had a heart attack. She survived.

One of the only good things about being stationed up north right now! For some reason, they just don't seem to care for snow very much.

A couple of years ago I came across a moccasin while hunting on a road of the Bonnie Carrie. It was warm the days prior to the hunt and a front had come through overnight and dropped the temps below freezing. The snake was moving slow but still alive on the frozen ground and opened his mouth to bit till the bird shot hit him…

Saw the dark one first was fixing to hit him with a stick looked down the lighter one was a few inches from my boot. They weren't very active. I always wear snake boots. We have a lot of water on our lease.

We shot one yesterday that coiled up to strike when our beagle walked past it. Beheaded by 7-1/2s

Wild snakes scare the mess out of me. I don't mind playing with someone's snake if it's their pet, but just walking up on one freaks me out.
