Sheeet...I was raised out in the middle of no where. Big farm south of Crowley and north of the duck capital of the world. I was more referring to a rifle at the age of 5. I had a 4-10 at 6 or so but as far as a rifle....it was a while before I ran around with one of those.
And maybe that's the difference. When we were "given a gun" it was because we were ready to hunt with it by ourselves. I just didnt consider it "my gun" as long as daddy was sitting there holding our hand and the gun as we pulled the trigger.
Im sure I shot a 22 around that same age but it sure wasn't "my gun" to take out in the woods.

20 gauge youth model when I was 9. That thing still is the sweetest shooting shotgun I own.

3rd or 4th grade...single shot 410

I was the third son, so I never really "got" one until I was older. I started using my brothers hand-me-down crack-barrell .410 when I was about 8, then his 20 gauge when I was 10 or 11.

I was given my own personal deer rifle at 5. I didnt hunt by myself with it, but my old man has never held up a gun for me or pulled the trigger for me.

I don't exactly remember how old, but I think I got my first non-air gun at 10 or 11 for Christmas. My parents got me a Marlin Model 60, which I still shoot to this day. It plinks with the best of them. They also got my brother a Remington 20 Gauge. Somehow we stumbled across them before Christmas, but I was still as happy as a pig in shite when I opened it.

A .22 rifle was bought for me before I was born. I wasn't allowed to shoot it until I was ?? but I could ask to see/handle it from the first day I was old enough to ask about it. I fondled that weapon like a prisoner in a whore house until I was old enough to take it outside and shoot it.

I had my first red ryder at probably around 6 or 7, 410 when I was around 9, .22 in 7th or 8th grade, can't remember which but I was about 10 or 11.

Single shot 20 gauge for christmas when I was 9. It kicked like a damn elephant gun, but I had the freezer full of squirrels for the next few years.

I got a crack barrel .410 like many here did. I think I was 7 or 8. I think I was 11 or 12 when I got a S&W 12 gauge. I still have both and I turn 40 this year.
I bought my son a T/C Hotshot for Christmas. He was 5. He also has a .410 pump and a Henry Golden boy that his grandfather bought him
Here is his first time shooting the T/C:

That's an awesome weapon

5 or 6th grade. But, my dad had a bb gun/air rifle that was "mine" i would shoot only with him.
You could pass it down, and when he comes to visit go shoot. Gives him great incentive to come see his Grand Dad.

Eleven. My grandmother got me a Stevens Model 94Y crack-barrel 20 gauge shotgun for my birthday. Still have it 40 years later. My son used it to whack his first quacker a few years ago.
