Helpful info to all SBE2 owners

I spent 3 hours yesterday convincing a nice longbeard that I was a hen only to have my SBE2 misfire with him in full strut at 35 yards. After countless rounds I have never had a problem with this gun, so I was baffled to say the least. After doing some research I determined that I was a victim of what is known as 'Benelli Click' which occurs when the bolt is not fully seated therefore causing the gun to misfire. Before I begin to call in the mornings I always check to make sure I have a shell in the chamber. After reading of similiar experinces on Benelli's website I suspect that the bolt spring did not fully close the action ultimately resulting in 'Benelli Click'.
The good news is that Wolf Gunsprings makes an aftermarket spring that is 25% stronger than the factory Benelli spring. It was the recommened replacement spring on Benelli's website so I ordered one last night for about $15.
There is a ton of internet info on this topic if you Google 'Benelli Click'.

I would have thrown it in the nearest body of water.

Thanks for the info, nock on wood I haven't had that problem yet with my SBE2. However almost any autoloader if not closed all the way will do the same. The key is load the gun where you can let the spring close all the way and not try and close the bolt with a "quiet" action.

yeah but the benneli click is more common because of the rotating action on the bolt - happens when it is very cold as well. Probably the safest action out there just have to make sure its shut

Simple. Let it slam shut when you chamber a round. Problem solved

This happened to me a few years ago. Broke my heart but taught me a lesson. You just let it slam shut when you load a round and you're good.

ohhhh the Benelli Click, many birds still flying and struttin' from that mishap That said, I'll readily admit that if you try to "quietly" shut the action on an Xtrema2 (or actually maybe just about any rotating bolt auto), the same thing can happen. Let 'er slam shut or if doing it quietly make sure the bolt rotates completely back into place. Hope you get your turkey back

Same thing happened to me with my Vinci.
I was tryin to be quiet and I guess it didn't slam shut like it neede to.

It did happen to me once during duck season. I just make sure that it is closed well now. I always make sure that I can not push the bolt forward now.

That never happens to my benelli.

I also missed a nice buck once because the bolt handle on my Rem.700 had gotten bumped upwards just enough that it wouldn't fire, I've about worn it smooth from compulsively checking it while sitting in my deer stand now.

Someone even stated earlier in this thread that the Xtrema will do the same thing

This happens more often in the inertia action guns. My brother had this happen several times during a dove hunt last year. When he would sit down if he let the stock of the gun bump the ground it would move the bolt just a hair. He now constantly checks that bolt and just taps the handle with his hand to make sure it is closed properly. Shake a Benelli(auto) real hard and watch the bolt.

I'm as big a Beretta fan as anyone and promise you the Xtrema2 (and new A400 Xplor) can have this issue though seem less prone to it overall. The SBE2 issue occurs during what most consider normal bolt closing, whereas I've never seen that occur nor hear of it with an Xtrema2. The wildcard is trying to shut the bolt quietly (with a strutting gobbler, or working ducks, etc.).

It happened once om my Browning BAR too! Not just a Benelli shotgun thing. Let the bolt slam.
