lost my favorite Kershaw and I cannot seem to find one comparable to the model I had anywhere. It needs to be half straight edge and half serated edge. id also like assisted opening. doesn't have to be Kershaw. whats the OB carrying these days?

I second DSD. . . My newest blade was the Doug Ritter mini grip that I picked up last year. love it.

I've been carrying the mini auto stryker from benchmade for a while. I really like it. I don't know if I could ever go back to a non auto knife.

If you want assisted open go with a benchmade mini barrage. I've had mine for a while and love it. Plus you got that sweet benchmade lifetime warranty.
It's got a bit more wear now but still keeps a good edge. Very easy to sharpen too.

Lots of people will say mini-grip. I've owned one, and the opening nub wore a hole in all of my jeans. Also, it didn't feel as solid as my current knife.
I'll throw in a vote for Spyderco Paramilitary. Much better knife IMHO

I have a bunch, some of which are pretty decent. Benchmades, Al Mar, Spyderco, Emerson. All are great for various purposes, but I'd go benchmade or spyderco for all around use. None of mine have the harder use capabilities of my Al Mar or Emerson, but they're great knives.

That bench made looks like it would be perfect.

The mini barrage is about 2-3 oz heavier than the mini griptillian but I really like the feel and the assisted open is the shite. It's been an excellent knife.

I work on ships and tugs. If you need to cut a line quickly before it kills you, you're gonna want a serrated edge

A properly maintained plain edge eliminates any potential benefit of a half serrated edge. Of course, for your purpose, it's less maintenance to go half serrated if you don't care about the benefits of a plain edge, so I get it.

Grip here, but I end up with my case toothpick everyday.
