I have an old Smith and Wesson 1000 that I will say is worn out simply because I can't get it rebuilt.

Other than that I don't think I can say I have ever just worn one out to the point that it couldn't be fixed or the barrel needed replacing from shooting.

A case of Rem Hypersonic will wear out any gun. Same can be sad for any1600fps+ shells. Sadly my Browning Gold is toast now.

My sbe is on its 18th duck season (hunting most Saturdays and sundays of the season) It's lived its whole life hunted in the marsh, used as a paddle, pushpole, everything you would expect a true duck gun to be put through and it's still kicking and the barrel is shiny as brand new. I really can't imagine this gun wearing out besides replacing a few springs every now and then. It keep wanting to get a new shotgun to have the newest coolest thing but I just can't come up with any good reason. It really has its own cool factor now and I'm hoping to have the chance to hand to my son as his first 12ga as my father did with me.

Damn, how many duck seasons do y'all have per year in Louisiana? You must be counting early teal season separate.

Name a mechanical piece in that Gun and it was toast. I forget the name of the people that "upgrade guns" but they replaced the whole recoil system from spring to its casing and it still doesn't work properly.

Those high velocity shells just create too much pressure for 98% of the guns in the market.

i have an SBE that i bought way back in 1997 and have hunted duck, squirrel, rabbit, deer with it exclusively every season since then and shot it at the range. the only thing that isn't original on it is the ejector. damn thing is a tank.

I've got no problems with my Browning Gold Hunter, but I clean it regularly and break it down after rain or dunking.

Sorry you dont take care of your chit, baw.

I have a Xtrema 2. This is my 10th year hunting with it. Until this year its had only black clouds shot through it. Still has yet to show the first sign of wear. Like you, I thought about getting the new A400 but I can't see it being any more beneficial than my current one. I have a son on the way and pretty cool to know that he will look at this gun and say "that was my dad's duck gun". Same way I look at my dad's and grandfather's guns

old Smith and Wesson 1000

I was given one by my uncle. It was hardly used and always jammed like crazy. Recently went to 4 pawn shops and before I took it out the case they all passed. . I can't even give that gun away. It is a pretty looking gun though, just useless to shoot with.
