I too have the Columbia bora that I paid around $18 for, from amazon. I wear bullfrog sunscreen and own a buff that I rarely wear.

I use and elcheapo straw from Lowes and sunscreen. IDGAF what people think. I have worn a Filson bush hat during several summers, it's not as hot as you might think.

People on this board will make fun of you for wearing it, but buy a face buff. They're great for sun protection.

No they won't. There's a loud minority, but most of us are pro buff.

I used think they were kind of douchie. But I gave it a try and have never looked back. I hate applying sunblock.

I have a Tilley Hat. It floats.

I have a Tilley hat and I really like it for fishing or any other long day in the sun.

The only thing I don't like about it is that most guys I see wearing them look retirement age. Some of y'all younger guys need to start wearing Tilleys so I don't feel like an old fart in mine.

Love my Tilleys. Have an olive with a large brim and khaki with a medium brim

Eta: I'm 26

They're basically waterproof and have that thin foam insert in the top for added waterproof protection. I keep my fishing license and a $20 bill in the ziploc bag they send in that pocket

I dip snuff on the water so a buff is not an option

Columbia and Outdoor Research make nice hats that aren't super dorky.

Well, it appears Tilley is the overall general consensus, I have a buff but I'm not wearing that to cut grass and I'm not crazy about it overall.

Thanks for all the info will look closer at the Tiley's.

How do these run size wise? I have dome. 7 3/4. One size fits all typically doesn't work well for me.

Never go anywhere w/o mine. Have had it for 7 years, wear everyday and wash it once a week and it still looks new. Never thought it would last that long.

I AM retired but what difference does it make. It's the best hat out there.

How do you know which is which?

What do their model numbers mean?

Nvm, you can go to Tilley's website.
