Has anyone put a fridge inside a closet/pantry space?

Would there be any issues as far as overheating or ventilation to consider? My wife has another kitchen idea and it involves clearing out our pantry and putting the fridge in there. I wasn't sure if this would be an issue. I know some are able to be mounted inside cabinetry but wasn't sure if there was something special in how those were made.

Went through similar situations recently with outdoor fridges and a minifridge in a guest house. . .As long as you meet the manufacturer clearances on the surrounding wall, etc. my understanding is that you're good. Even the tightest interior door closure won't seal well enough to limit the ventilation to the pantry. Hope this helps

If you want to be extra safe just put a return air vent in the bottom of the closet door.

I have seen return vents installed on the back wall of the closet to allow better ventilation

Keep the door open or have some form of air flow, or it won't work

Are you planning on leaving the closet doors in there? My house is old and they did shite a little different back then. My fridge is completely surrounded on every side except the front. No issues really.

I guess I should have given more details. The pantry has a 24 inch door on it. I would be removing the door and widening the opening to get the fridge in there. Not going to put a door back on. So you would basically see the wall, some door casing/trim, and the fridge would be right there with the front in the open. There is plenty of space on the sides in there I was just curious if having it enclosed with only the front in the open would cause issues. I can cut some vents into the floor that would be open to the basement below if I need to.

That is gracious plenty of space for a fridge.

As long as there is a way for the hot air to get out, you're good

It needs a way for the heat to escape. Read the manual for installation requirements before you make any decisions.

my fridge is built into some cabinets...as long as you have some airspace around the sides and top, you will be fine.

If this is OK then you'll have plenty ventilation with the pantry.

As long as the pantry is gets enough air. The less cool air you give a fridge system, the harder it will work. Reducing the performance and lifespan. I wouldn't back it all the way into a corner or wall in an inclosed closet space.
