I threw my Husqvarna blower across my yard around 10am this morning. It is going out with the garbage this evening and I'm either buying an Echo or Stihl next.

Echo backpack and trimmer at Lowes. Best "bang for your buck" IMO.

whatever you get, buy gas without ethanol. They always last longer and perform better with no ethanol gas.

Tried the troy built eater a few years back. Hasn't failed me yet, but I put the pre mix 40:1 in it and nothing else.

I threw my Stihl across the yard too last summer! I never could get the carb to act right. Anyway I replaced mine with new brand called Tanaka. They are commercial quality and are built very similar to Stihl. I also bought one of their weed eaters and have zero complaints on either.

You've torn up more weedeaters and blowers than anyone I know.

Get a stihl and it'll be the last one you ever buy.

I've used Echo for my lawn biz for years, but most the big names are good.On the trimmer make sure you get the straight shaft. Also get some Stabil and Seafoam and keep mixed in your can and store fuel and equipment out of direct weather and it will last much longer.

I would be cautious of purchasing an Echo from the "big box" type hardware stores - I've been told they are not of the same quality of those sold for commercial applications. I have a Stehl weedeater that I bought in 2006, and blower that I bought in 2009, both work great. The blower's carburetor is a little finicky though.

Hitachi/Tanaka from Amazon. I only have the trimmer, but the blowers have awesome reviews too.

My Echo came from Home Depot, its about 5 years old I think no problems ever. $199 backpack blower might be overkill
