Golf Cart, Underwater for 24 hours, is it Salvaglebale, Edit it is!!!

My father in laws Golf Cart flooded. The water came up to the seats on it and stayed about 20 hours. I'm thinking it will probably need a new motor, rewired and new batteries? Is it worth it or should he put the money towards a new one? Anything he can do to help it along. It did need new batteries before it flooded.

When you say "rewired" do you also mean the heavy gauge cables to the batteries? If not, please reconsider...if those cables were underwater for any length of time they'll corrode..and eventually cause the batteries to fail to deliver rated voltage to the motor...creating a strain on the batteries and potentially the motors as well.

E-Z-Go I'm pretty sure.
Him and my MIL decided this was their last year camping so he was going to sell his campground membership and give my son his golf cart to play around with in the neighborhood/back pasture.

I say that it could be if you completely gut it out and put in all new parts including wiring, etc

I would certainly try to salvage it...you have nothing to lose, really.
batteries (which cost $1000) should be ok...just dump them and put in new acid.
for the rest, I would just put some heat lamps on it all for a few days before putting power to it again and then try it out. if something is not working, then you replace that part until you get it running again.

I would let it dry out good for a week or so and then see what happens

Pressure wash it and let it dry for a long time. Unplug everything you find. Let it dry.
New acid for batteries.
Drive the shite out of it. It was fresh water not salt. It'll be fine

I bought a 2012 last year that had just been retired from a golf course. Had it outfitted with a rear seat, lights, horn, battery gauge, and rear view mirrors...year warranty from a local shop, for $3700. The cart alone was $2500, just like your second link.

So to make a long story short my FIL ended up giving it to my kids. Replaced the batteries with a year old set and changed all the battery cables. Motor has a little humm to it but its the bearings, I need to take it down and replace them. It's been running great for the past 3 months, but now I have a new problem. It seems as though the accelerator is backwards. When I put it in reverse and gently touch the peddle it takes off like a bat out of hell. When I go forward it does the same thing but not as bad.
Any thoughts on where I can begin to look for a problem. My first thought is that its a grounding issue but I can't find anything. Either something corroded or came loose over the last few days?

Is that the part under the floorboard? Theres a small switch and a plunger that goes into hole
