I've got the outdoor edge razor light, I like the size, the blades are real sharp, but it's hard to keep clean and gums up

I've also tried the havalon and Gerber replaceable blades, they're nice but on the small side

What does this board suggest/use

I'm such a good hunter and I kill so many critters that they dull my knife too quick...

Havalon comes in different sizes. Mine is the larger size and works great. Also like the Cutco hunting knife. Not replaceable blades, but stays sharp forever.

Just get you an Old Timer Sharp Finger and a Lansky sharpener. sharpen 1 per season.
Worked for me just fine for the last 35 years

Get a old hickory paring knife and one of those quick hand sharpeners. That and a razor knife. Win Win.

This ratcheer. I hear the newer Japanese-made Schrades are just as sharp as the old USA made ones.

Buy you a good knife, not a stainless one either. IMHO a good skinning knife will start about $250 and there is no ceiling to what you can spend. There are exceptions to this such as an old Old Timer Sharpfinger (built by Schrade not the new junk)

I carry a Damascus custom made knife and it is great.

Any folding type knife is going to get all kinds of blood and meat pieces inside of it while cleaning a deer. Give me a fixed blade...

1+.
The only relpacable blade knife I have is a larger sized Havalon. I've decided it's one of the best squirrel cleaning knives I have. As far as skinning deer, the Havalon is ok. Mine doesn't seem to get too dirty. But the Havalon is built w/ an "open" back on the handle. If the replaceable blade is what's getting gummed up, take off the blade and clean it. Taking off/replacing the blade should be a pretty brief job.
